William woke up in stages, his senses slowly coming back to him. First, he saw the sunlight through his eyelids.
Next, he felt shuffling from beside him, causing him to groan quietly and shift onto his side. Then he heard movement from the kitchen and the warm smell of breakfast caught in his nose.

He opened his groggy eyes and slid out of the soft bed, pulling on his clothes from the other night. He then stumbled out to the kitchen, seeing Y/n in front of the stove.

Chuckling lightly, he walked up behind them and wrapped his arms around their waist in a loose hug. "Good morning, love.." He mumbled.

They leaned into him, baring their neck by resting their head on his shoulder. "Good morning." They purred

He smiled. "What are you making? You do know you don't have to cook for me, right?" He looked down at them, feeling slightly guilty.

They chuckled, returning their focus to the food. "Well, since you put the effort in last night to make me feel good," they smirked, looking up at him. "I thought I'd return the favor."

He huffed out a laugh. "But to answer your first question, I'm making eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes for breakfast." They let their face relax into a small smile as they flipped the potatoes in the pan to get all of the sides crispy.

"How do you like your eggs, Will?" They looked back to him. "How you made 'em last time." He answered, nuzzling his face into their hair.

They hummed in affirmation and continued their work.

.

Y/n sent him to the table a few minutes before they came out of the kitchen, two plates of food in hand.

"I hope you like it." They said as they placed the food on the table. "It looks delicious, my love."

As they started eating, William spoke up, "I've never cooked for you, have I?" Y/n gently shook their head, the smile from earlier still present.

"Only once, but you don't have to all of the time." He smiled back at them. "But what if I want to?"

They looked up at him curiously. "Then you can the next time we see each other for dinner."

He hummed noncommittally, averting his gaze. "Alright then. When'll that be?" He asked. "I'm fine with tonight if you are." Y/n said with a soft smile.

.

They both finished eating and brought their dishes to the kitchen.

William was rinsing his plate and stacking dishes next to the sink with Y/n next to him, washing and drying dishes. The quiet comfort of just spending time together, even when doing something so mundane, felt brand new and oh-so familiar all at once.

He sighed softly and pushed the thoughts of what him and Clara had to the back of his mind. He has something new, something healthy to look forward to. He can't get caught up on the past.

It will do him no good to reminisce about things he can find from someone new.

Things he can get from Y/n.

He snapped back to reality from a sensation on his hand.

He looked down, seeing Y/n's hand linked in his, then felt a comforting squeeze, and brought his gaze to their face.

They looked concerned for him but were clearly keeping themself from prying for his own sake.

He softly smiled and squeezed their hand back in a reassurance that he would be fine.

He really loved them.

.

You and William were cuddled up on the couch, just reveling in the other's warmth and presence.
