Lone Wanderer Takes on the World

Chapter 1 - The Beginning

I sat alone in my room upstairs. Down the hall my sisters bedroom was, to the left, my parents.
'It was a quiet day, not much happens anymore, my 14th birthday was pretty bland this year. Since this whole "apocalypse" thing happened three years ago. I've stayed here, too scared to venture out into the Capitol Wasteland.' I wrote down in my journal.
'My father was a doctor, before the war I mean. Now he's deported out into the Capitol helping out the other doctors on what the fuck is going. My mother died a while ago from a gunshot to the head, caused by an outlawed raider. My sister, she's out scavenging for food. It's only me and her now even though dad said he would come back for us.
I doubt that.
The cause of the war is still unknown to me, whenever I ask about it, my sister ignores me and changes the subject. After all, I was only a baby when this all happened...she saw everything as it unfolded.
It was a scary world, there's raiders around every corner, the town I live in is deserted. Everyone went to megaton, that's a city east from here. It has food, technology and other luxuries. My sister, her name is Rose , said "We don't need their charity, we can live on our own till dad comes back."
And that's why we're still in this rundown hell that we call home. I hate it here actually, it reminds me too much of mom. Sometimes I go in her room and lay there, smell her blankets and her perfume. Same with my dad, I just wish we didn't get into any of this war shit or we'd be halfway to California. I hate living in Washington DC, too many old buildings.'
Snapping out of my writing, I looked out the window. Rose must be back.
Hopping down the stairs to the kitchen I said "YO WHAT'DYA GET!"
Rose walked in and threw a water bottle to me "Some purified water, Braham steak, chips, the works."
"How much do I have to pay you?" I asked
"It's free sis, you do so much for me already." She said, ruffling my hair.
I smiled, but then looked down at the cracked floor boards. "Uh...say.." She looked at me, I could feel it. "Do you think we could ever visit Megaton?"
She set the groceries down on the table harshly "Never! We aren't leaving until dad-" she was interrupted by a knocking on the
Door.
I went silent, Rose motioned for me to get down, so I hid behind a chair in the living room.
She went up to the door carrying a gun behind her back "Hello?" She asked.
I couldn't see much, but I heard a young voice of a boy "I have a delivery. Take it and don't do anything stupid alright?" The door slammed.
"'Kay, you can come out now Saber." she told me.
"So, what's that?" I asked while standing up. I read the note over her shoulder.
'Your father has gone missing from the lab, if you want to find him, come to the galaxy news radio station located west of Megaton. We will indulge you more on the situation if or when you arrive. We hope to see you soon.
