Edit: I'M SO SORRY I FORGOT I WROTE THIS

As the sun rose over the mountaintops, the golden rays slathered over the snow-covered kingdom of Caractus. Up in the castle, it was a busy morning: maids scuttering about, hanging final decorations; the cooks preparing the Christmas lunch, roast chicken with roast potatoes, and guards protecting the castle, though less intimidating due to santa hats atop their heads. Amidst the chaos, a little 5 year old waddled around, excited for the events that laid waiting for her. She wore a dark green, knee-length dress with a small red ribon tied into a bow on the front. She also wore reindeer ears - after countless hours of begging which was really a minute of puppy dog eyes - and she had an aura of intense happiness around her. Her amber eyes raked slowly over the lights strung across the ceiling, the mini christmas trees in various spots along the hallway, and the other decorations scattered about. It truly gave a festive vibe.

The princess shuffled over to a pair of giant tinsel-covered doors and slowly pushed them open, a great feat for a small, weak child who was not even a quarter of the size of the door. At a desk in the far corner, her mother, Dia, was bent over something, inspecting it. At the sound of the doors opening, she was quick to hide it, especially seeing it was her daughter who entered, not a guard or maid. "Merry Christmas, mother!" the child spoke with a lisp.

"Merry Christmas my dear Anthea, how's my daughter on this cold morning?"

"It's snowing! Can I play in the snow?" Anthea asked, excitement coursing through her quickly. "Later, dear, after we open the presents!" Dia leant down to her daughter's height. "Shall we go see if Santa came to visit?" Anthea nodded, and her mother was quick to stand up and guide her out of the room.

They quickly reached the Great Hall, and upon arrival, they noticed the dazzling Christmas tree in the middle, which reached stupendous heights. There were a multitude of decorations, from glittery baubles to mini Santas, dotted on the thick branches of the Fraser fir. Golden tinsel snaked its way up the tree with fairy lights, ending in a magnificent glittery red star at the peak. It was truly amazing. But the prettiest sight to see, was the array of gifts scattered along the bottom. A giant box stood out the most to Anthea and with a smile from her mother, she ran to it (as fast a 5 year old can go) and tore apart the reindeer wrapping paper. What she didn't expect was for her best friend, Kaleb, to jump out with a shout. He was, surprisingly, wearing a suit with the same colour theme as Anthea. After both were engulfed in a hug by each other, they continued opening presents, this time with more laughter echoing through the room. It was truly beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

After their initial energy had begun to wear down, noon was fast approaching and a mouth-watering smell wafted through the castle. The group of three made their way to the dining hall, with the children in front, chattering away without a care in the world. They devoured the tender, juicy roast chicken and roast potatoes. The dessert disappeared within minutes and the children sprinted off to their rooms to get ready. Anthea and Kaleb, wrapped in many warm layers, messed around in the white powder, their giggles filling the air.

It wasn't until 5pm that the children had completely lost their energy. Despite their fatigue, they still had to be forced into the castle, because they didn't want to leave Mr Snowman, who would be alone all night. With the promise of seeing him in the morning, Anthea and Kaleb allowed themselves to be whisked off to have bubbly baths and warmed up.

An hour later, after they had dinner, Anthea curled up in the garden, staring at the many stars above her. Rustling was heard and a plop was heard as Kaleb dropped down next to her. Each of them held steaming mugs full of hot chocolate, with marchmellows floating around the top. With a smile, both ranted about the many stars and constellations they knew, until silence overtook the grounds. Both children were carried to their rooms, blankets wrapped around them, and memories to last a lifetime in their sweet heads.
