Author's Notes:

Um, Merry Christmas! Once again I apologize for the long wait. Last month was especially rough for me which included me getting surgery and the passing of an elderly pet. But life goes on as they say.

Who's ready for an almost 7k word chapter? Technically, the first third is the continuation of the last chapter but it would've made that chapter well over 7k. Maybe after this story is done I'll go back and fix the lengths of every chapter, break them up into smaller chapters or something.

Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Y:

Please, Bora.

Bora read the text, rolled her eyes, and tossed her phone on the dashboard.

"Make up your damn mind," she grumbled.

She was deciding whether to drive off or not, her little black sedan had been running for over ten minutes in the hospital's parking garage. Fictional dialogue between Yoohyeon and Minji filled her head and when they became too intrusive she drowned them out by playing the radio loudly. Some foreign rock song was playing, but she had no idea what they were singing, just that it was loud, noisy, and distracting.

She didn't mean to barge in like that, but she couldn't stand hearing Siyeon being talked about like she was a background character. Although in hindsight she should've just stayed in Siyeon's room. That's where she was in the first place.

Unfortunately, the radio wasn't enough to drown out her loud thoughts anymore. She picked up her phone again. They made it this far and abandoning everything now would be all for nothing. She decided to endure it a little longer, even if it will only cause her more pain.

"Fine. Whatever," she gave in.

B:

I'm in the parking garage.

Several minutes later that familiar girl with the hoodie scurried toward her car. Yoohyeon spilled into the backseat, clumsy limbs flailing to fit inside. She shouted over the music for Bora to start driving.

Bora lowered the volume. "Where?"

"Anywhere. Anywhere but here."

Bora said nothing else and shifted the gear to drive. As the hospital disappeared from their view, peace and calm instantly returned to both of them. Getting away from all that gloom and doom was all they had to do.

The radio was still on, enough to know what song was playing but enough to rid the silence in the car. But every song playing was some breakup or sad love song and Bora wondered why people like to torture themselves with this kind of music. She finally turned it off, letting the humming highway fill the silence. Every few seconds she glanced at the rearview mirror, checking on Yoohyeon to make sure she wasn't going to be sick all over her car. She looked unwell all of a sudden compared to earlier.

"You ok?" Bora asked, knowing the obvious answer.

"I just had to get out of there." Yoohyeon huffed.

Bora nodded. "Same."

Yoohyeon buried herself into her hoodie as usual, like a turtle retreating into its shell, the drawstrings tightened over her face. It didn't take long for sleep to take over her.

Something big must have happened, Bora figured. Yoohyeon looked so frazzled and frantic from the moment she entered the car. She couldn't help but wonder what she and Minji were talking about again. More fictional dialogue played in her head. If she hadn't interrupted then she would've found out more. Then again, did she even want to hear what they were talking about?
