The stairwell siren

Chapter one

Jamie gathered her items together and stuffed them into her backpack, angrily. "Dad.. Do we really have to move to an apartment?- I mean, we are just fine living with grandma, aren't we?" Jamie said. "No, Jamie. We have a cold front estimated to get here in a week, we can't stay. We'll visit her I promise." Jamie's dad said. Jamie rolled her eyes and kept packing her stuff into her backpack, carefully organizing the items around so nothing would break or get lost. As Jamie was digging through what she was keeping, she noticed her phone was in the throw away pile. She snatched her phone and put it in her pocket, along with a key to her grandma's house. Jamie and her father began walking through the hallway. Jamie grabbed the doorknob and swung open the front door, almost dropping her backpack. She walked to the car and put her bag in the trunk, along with her dad's stuff. She sat in the back seat, and looked at her phone.
