Chapter I
"You sure you can't come to my match tonight, Sab?"
"Yeah, what's holding you back anyway? I'm sure your siblings could understand and extend your curfew for a few hours,"
I flash a small smile to the both of my best pals as I stuff my backpack with my textbooks. My two bestmates, Claire and Lucky, were practically begging for me to come and watch Lucky's big game tonight. Something about this game surely excites my lad to his socks. I couldn't really bother to find out what's so different about this game compare to the countless ones he'd slayed on, but I heard it'll give him a bigger chance to get him a scholarship for college.
"It's not about the curfew, I'm just not in the mood for any games tonight," I flash an apologetic smile "I'm sorry, Pounds. Maybe some other time,"
"There won't be any other time like this! Come on, just this one game," Lucky begs while pulling my sweater sleeve "I can use some support from the crowd,"
"I'm sure Claire's cheer's enough to motivate you,"
"It'll be a good big game, trust me!" Claire speaks up, helping Lucky in this conversation "I mean, it's the big game and all the good athletes are playing,"
I raise my eyebrow, "You sure you're coming for the game, not for the sake of all the sweaty eye candies running on the field as they take their shirts off?"
Lucky snorts.
"That's a bonus we girls should never complain about, thank you very much," Claire snorts as she glares at me and elbowed Lucky "But for real though, you need to come! You deserve some time out! I mean- Alright, if you can't come for the game then come for the after party, yeah? Lucky's throwing this bigass party at his place, right Pounds?"
He nods proudly, "Everyone's gonna be there and that includes you, Sabrina,"
"I don't know guys," I say reluctantly "I mean, I could really appreciate some extra hours of sleep. Haven't got much rest lately,"
My two best pals flashed a pitied smile before sighing and volumes their excitement down. No further words needed to be uttered since they know exactly what was I talking about. They'd been there for me since forever so even if they're missing some details, they'd still know my mind was still off over something.
Or perhaps, someone.
"Morning, Sab," someone greeted.
He flashes a small smile before coming closer for a hug. Which of course, I refuse by taking a step back. The boy then looks down to his shoes and make a mocking smile to himself before shaking his head and look up, staring at me with quite offend evident on his eyes but still says nothing.
I clear my throat quietly before turning my body back to my business. Claire and Lucky stares at each other awkwardly before shuffling a bit closer to me. The atmosphere is literally too quiet and awkward that I could just cut it with a knife right through now.
"How are you?"
"I've been better," I answer short without looking at him.
"Hey, I'll be going to my class first. I just remembered I have to come early today," Claire suddenly spoke up and nudge me. She looked uneasy somehow and before I could answer anything, she's already on her heels heading to her class.
I move my eyes slowly to Lucky who's shrugging in no better state than I am. The three of us always go to our classes together no matter how far one class is from another. Claire taking off alone and all of sudden like this must've hold a reason behind it. She just hasn't share it with us, I suppose.
