Cinnamonpaw awoke after a long nap, when he opened his eyes it was completely dark and he was the only one in the cave. It felt kind of eerie. He raised his head and blinked away any sleepiness. He felt warm, warmer than usual. He looked toward the entrance, it was cast in a cool blue light; he was confused, surely there couldn't be any way that moonlight could beam in? He cautiously got up and stepped forward, his ears pinned back. He tentatively walked toward the blue light, it blinding him as he felt it wash over him, warmth taking over him. He closed his eyes tightly and didn't open them until he felt a cool breeze ruffle his pelt.

He looked around, eyes wide. He stood in the middle of a big open field, tall grass being blown by the wind, it was dark and many stars dotted the indigo sky. He felt oddly at peace, like he knew there was not anything to be afraid of. He stared off ahead when he felt a tail brush against his shoulder; he swung his head to see who the tail belonged to.

A dark-ginger she-cat with brown swirls stood, her brown eyes shining; she looked like Cinnamonpaw, and to him she seemed familiar despite never having seen her before.

"Who-" Cinnamonpaw was about mew, the she-cat answered before he could finish. "I am Autumnheart," she meowed warmly. "Your mother."

"My mother?" Cinnamonpaw sounded surprised. " Autumnheart nodded, licking his ears softly and purring. "I thought you died, what are you doing here?"

"This is a dream," she replied simply. "I wanted to visit you and talk with you."

"Come with me, dear." She told him, before running off towards the smell of an open lake. Surprised, he quickly got up and took off after her. He felt agility coursing through his paws, he felt like he could fly. His paws beat lightly on the ground as he followed her; he was extremely fast.

The tall grass parted as he leaped out after his mother. He crashed into the ground and landed with his muzzle in the dirt; he got up, spitting dirt out of his mouth and shaking little bits of leaves and pebbles out of his fur; he looked up to see a beautiful vast lake, it glowed with a faint blue and the moon reflected off of it. He stepped forward, looking into the lake and seeing himself, his eyes were glowing with a blue though. Autumnheart stepped next to him, looking into the lake too. He glanced at her reflection and saw that her pelt glowed with many stars.

"This lake...it's so beautiful, why did you bring me here?" He looked up at her.

"I wanted you to see that you aren't alone, the stars guide your paws and lay out your path, but they also accompany through your darkest times."

She looked into his eyes, her gaze soothing. "You might may feel alone but you're not, the stars are with you, I'm with you, and Sunsetpaw is with you."

Cinnamonpaw nodded, starting to feel cold.

"The real world calls you back now," Autumnheart meowed, nuzzling Cinnamonpaw. "I love you so much, and remember you aren't alone..."

Her words faded in an echo as cold took over his entire body.

He woke up in his nest, feeling the sharp cold pierce his pelt. He raised his head and looked around; he saw the other apprentices sleeping soundly, right next to his nest was his sister.
