I sighed, pulling off my gloves and swiftly swiping one across my sweaty forehead, I had just finished eradicating what was left of the summer season tomatoes, winter was coming way sooner than any of us at Stardew Valley anticipated.

I took off my hat and began walking back to the farmhouse, setting my hat and gloves down on the ledge of the deck. I turned the knob and opened the door, peeking inside and waiting to hear Harveys voice. Silence, I stepped inside and looked around for a second, quietly closing the door behind me.

He was home before I went out to work on the farm, which was around 4:30, it's 6:30 now, the sky was fading into a pinkish orange, a hue that's rare to see here, so I assumed he probably went out to see it. I took off my muddy boots and set them next to the doorway. Walking over to the kitchen, I went to open the refrigerator before I stepped in a large puddle of coffee. I looked down in shock and picked up my leg, shaking it and taking off the now wet sock, throwing it in the hallway of the laundry room. Coffee was scattered across the counter too. I was confused because Harvey was a neat freak. I grabbed a couple of rags and threw them on the floor, watching the coffee soak into the rags, changing their pigment. I tackled the counter with some paper towel and then got the rest of the liquid on the ground, picking them up and rushing them to the sink to soak.

I stopped for a second while running the hot water and wondered what had happened, I grew worried. Shutting the sink water off and briskly wiping my wet hands on my clothes.

"Harv? Baby?" I said, looking around, I walked into the bedroom and he wasn't there.

"Babe?" I yelled. "Are you home?" I repeated, stopping in the living room, I looked down and saw the telephone dangling from the cord. An annoying static I hadn't heard before was ringing through my ears, so I grabbed the phone and put it back on the dialer. walked back over to the front door and threw on some simple boots, tying my hair back into a messy bun.

I walked out and hopped down the steps 1 by 1, walking through the old dirt path, looking at the bus that I used to get here 8 years ago. I had met Harvey on my first day to town, I had bad asthma so I'd visit often. Hookups turned into dates that quickly escalated to him proposing to me, in a range of a year, so we have been married for about 7 years. I visit him when I can at the clinic but I'm assuming he's busy.

I arrived at town square and walked up to the clinic. It was already dark outside, so I opened the door and it was dimly lit. Maru wasn't at the counter and I was about to leave, guessing he wasn't here, when I heard the sound of distant crying. I turned back around and walked in, slowly closing the door behind me, I walked in and through the doors that lead to the examining rooms, turned around the corner and saw Harvey.

He was sitting down against the wall balled up, his legs covering his face. I immediately ran over to him and grabbed his knee. He flinched and looked up, tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Baby..." I said, wiping his tears with my thumbs.

"No. no no no..." He whimpered, trying to stand up out of my grip, I stood up and embraced him.

"What happened Harvey...?" I consoled him, my own eyes began to tear up. He didn't hug me back, and I released, locking eyes with him. "Doc?" I said, trying to cheer him up but he quickly pulled out of my grip, forcefully grabbing my arm and throwing it away from him. He left a small bruise and I quickly hid it. Not wanting him to feel guilty.

"No.. don't call me that, please..." He cried out, running his hands through his hair, his hair now slightly wet. I was still in shock from the pain, everything was happening too quickly. a couple of tears ran down my face, and I wiped them. I watched as his expression changed rapidly. He grabbed a hold of the wall and put his head against it, sobbing.

"Babe, what's going on." I asked, reaching my hand onto his shoulder, "You can always talk t-" I was quickly cut off

"I lost him." He whispered. Questioning if he should continue talking "I fucking lost Vincent." He screamed. I stepped back in shock and my hands slowly covered my mouth. He turned into a nervous wreck and broke down, punching the wall repeatedly.

"Har-" I mumbled, quickly being cut off. He slammed his fist into the wall as hard as he could, making a hole. When he slowly pulled his arm out, his hand bled, dripping off of his fingers and onto the ground. Although I was supposed to be there for him, I was scared. I reached for him and grabbed his arm, now bleeding uncontrollably from impact. We slowly fell to the ground and I watched as he balled his eyes out.

I grabbed ahold of his waist and hugged him, his tears running down onto my face.

"I didnt even.." He cursed. "He could have lived." Harvey mumbled. "I could have-" I cut him off quickly

"You did all you could love..." I consoled him, he slowly fell into my chest and layed on me. Putting his hands over his face. "You're the best doctor I've ever met Harvey... Every doctor loses a patient.." I said, trying to reassure him. I knew nothing could fix this though because we lived in a small town, everyone would soon find out.

"His head..." Harvey blurted. "I couldn't stop the blee-bleeding... And- I-" He sobbed. "It was internal too, and it was such short- sh- notice." He balled his eyes out. And I embraced him, running my fingers through his hair.

"It's gonna be ok.." I told him. Not knowing if it was going to be or not. I shed a few tears before fully hugging him. He wrapped his weak arms around me and cried.

"Shhh..." I whispered, his crying was now hiccups and sniffles. Before I knew it, we were both passed out on the hospital ground, his face in my chest, my hands through his hair. Silence echoing through the air.
