On 98 AC on the Pink moon under the dark sky of Oldtown a daughter was born, they named her Astraea.

Astraea Hightower was born as the youngest child to the second son of the Hightowers, the Lord hand of the Seven Kingdoms, Ser Otto Hightower. Being the only daughter she could keep dear and close to her the lady-wife of the Lord Hand cherished Astraea more then her own life.

Astraea spent near to six name-days in Oldtown running in the meadows as her maids chased her, playing in the swing pushed by her brothers, being taught how to read and write by her uncle, how to embroider by her aunt and making flower crowns with her mother in the garden.

On her sixth name-day she was sent to live in the Red Keep with her lord-father and elder sister. Her elder sister Alicent, senior to her by just two years and was the lady-in-waiting for the King's eldest daughter Princess Rhaenyra who was senior to the young Astraea by a year.

Soon after her daughter had been torn away from her, the lady-wife of the Lord-Hand fell terribly sick with a broken heart and passed just a few days later. Her last words were that of longing and asking for her daughter, Astraea.

When the news reached the Red Keep the Hightower family was devastated as Ser Otto had truly loved his lady-wife who bore him five beautiful children; three sons and two daughters. The youngest of the sons; Gwyane a knight in training and the oldest daughter Alicent did feel sad and grief over the death of their mother but not as deep as the youngest Astraea who had been the star of her mother's black nights, the lady-wife's own little world.

It was tragic that King Jaehaerys passed just a day later after the Lord-Hand's Lady wife and the Heir Viserys was made the King- The Hand and his family were not permitted to return to their hometown and bury their beloved one.

That was the crossing line for Otto Hightower who had gone mad with grief over the loss of his lady of love whom he had called his wife and loved since they were children. He swore that the Targaryens would pay for their indifference towards his family and that's when his ambitions too over him. On 104 AC Ser Otto Hightower started to play the dangerous game of thrones.

With Gwayne Hightower as the Knight
Alicent Hightower as the Rook

Every parent has a soft spot for their youngest and every father has a soft corner for their daughter. In this case it couldn't be more than true, Astraea being both the youngest child and daughter had the largest space in Otto Hightower's heart only second to his late wife. Otto Hightower knew about how close and dear Astraea was to his late lady-wife and how she was heartbroken and greeted the Stranger right after their daughter was sent to the Red Keep.

So Astraea Hightower was granted the title of the Queen in his chess piece.
