Nathan

"Hey little bro, what's up?" Lacey answered.

"Lace, are you sitting down?" I smiled as I sat down on my bed.

"Nate, what's going on?" I looked at the spot where Elliot was asleep just a few hours ago.

"Sophie was here and she had Elliot with her."

"What?!" she shrieked making me pull my phone away from my ear.

"Yeah, it's a crazy story. I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything."

"Nate, this is crazy. What does he look like? How's Sophie?" I smiled going into detail about the last twenty-four hours.

I hung up the phone and went to jump in the shower. Sophie hadn't really changed too much since the last time I saw her. Her beautiful blonde hair is longer. Her curves have come in even more since giving birth.

"Babe." Shit, I forgot she was coming over today. I got out of the shower and pulled a towel around my waist.

"Hey baby, why don't you take that towel right back off," Kate smirked as she looked me up and down.

"Now is not a good time." I hissed turning to go back to my room, putting on a pair of shorts.

"It's that girl and kid isn't it." She hissed making my blood start to boil.

"Do not talk about them."

"Excuse me."

"Listen Kate. I'm sorry I can't do this anymore. I have a lot going on right now." I said running my hands through my hair. Getting my son back in my life was on the top of my list also getting on his mother's good side.

"Who is she Nathan? Is she trying to pin that kid on you?" She hissed.

"Like I said I have a lot going on." I'm not ashamed of having Elliot but this is not the time.

"She is. That slut."

"Alright, that's enough. You will not talk about her like to me." I yelled glaring at her.

"She's trapping you. What about baseball?"

"Please leave." I pleaded not wanting to argue anymore.

"This isn't over." She hissed before finally leaving. I sighed going back to my room curling up on my bed.

When I woke up earlier I took a picture of Sophie and Elliot sleeping. Elliot was curled up against her chest with one of his little hands on her cheek while she had an arm around him. I went into my safe box pulling out the old picture I had of them. It was when we were in the hospital, that Elliot was lying on her while she watched him.

(Sophie's POV)

"What's your name little cutie?" I heard my best friend say.

"Elliot." He answered her.

"Where's Sophie?"

"She's in the shower." I heard him say as I walked around the corner.

"Elliot, you can't just open doors." I groaned.

"Sophie." She gasped. I turned to my best friend looking at me confused.

"Elliot why don't you go watch your show? We're going into the kitchen." He nodded running back over to the couch. I sighed as we walked into the kitchen.

"What is happening?" I smiled taking a peak at Elliot. I still can't believe he is here.

"His parents died and were listed as his guardians. He is back in our care."

"Does Nathan know?"

"I called him after I found out. We both agreed this was our second chance. Nathan had a game over the weekend so we went and saw him."

"This is crazy. Does he know who you are?" I shook my head, feeling a slight pain in my chest.

"Not quite yet. For now, he's calling us by our names. He's still too young to understand. I'm just trying to help him get comfortable and adjust."

"How are you doing with all of this?"

"Honestly it feels like a dream. It's a little overwhelming but I'm loving it at the same time. He's been okay only having a few hard times so far." I smiled looking into the living room where Elliot was laughing.

"And Nathan?"

"He's trying. He calls every night. Once he's done with school and baseball it will be a little easier."

"So how was it really seeing him?" She smirked making me shake my head.

"It felt like old times. A little nerve-wracking. He does have a girlfriend." I sighed thinking about the kiss we shared. We fell back into where we left off but were near who we used to be.

"Soph." She whispered pulling me out of my thoughts.

"We were talking about everything. How crazy this is and how we're getting a second chance. We were just talking and it felt like old times. Then before I knew it we kissed. Elliot came running in shortly after that."

"Not only is this a second chance with Elliot. It's also a second chance for you two. I'm not saying jump back into a relationship or anything. You both loved each other deeply and went through something traumatic."

"I just don't want to mess this up."

"Sophie." He came running wrapping his arms around me.  I smiled wrapping my arms around him.

"What baby?"

"I'm hungry."

"Okay, I'll make you a sandwich."

"Can we call Nathan?"

"He's playing at his game, but I told him to call when he's done."

"Okay!" I made him his sandwich and handed it to him.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"So Elliot, are you having fun staying here with Sophie?" He nodded making both Payten and I smile. I walked over to him kissing his cheek making him smile.

"He is so cute." He turned his head smiling while I sat next to him.

"Elliot this is my best friend Payten. Payten this is Elliot."

"Hi." He said shyly.

"So Elliot I heard you like baseball." He smiled before moving over and crawling into my lap.

"Yeah, we watch Nathan."

"I bet that was cool. I used to watch Nathan play while I was in high school."

"We go see him again?" He looked up at me.

"When we talk to him later we can ask him when his next game is okay."

"Okay!" For the next half hour, Elliot told Payten all about baseball and Nathan. Turns out his adoptive parents were keeping up to date with him. They were big Bobcat fans.
