Chapter 22: The Grad Finale (What Happened)

---Day of Graduation---

Zayn POV:

Zayn over the past year you seem to be quite fond of Niall Horan, it’s funny cause when you were younger you never got along” My mother says to me while we drive to my grad. Niall was going with Liam and Harry in a limo, I would have gone with them but grad is pretty important to my parents.

“I guess we just became friends, best friends” I say to her, she doesn’t know Niall and I have been dating for the past ten months, I can tell Niall is a little sad I haven’t told my family but lucky for him I am telling them today. Niall’s mother invited me to go with him on summer vacation to America, and after that Niall and I are going to Uni together, Harry and Liam found a two bedroom apartment for all of us. A lot has happened within the past ten months. Harry became an uncle, his older sister and her husband had twin girls. Louis switched schools after 1st term, his parents discovered he had an anger problem so they sent him to an insane asylum which doubled as a private school, I think it was pretty funny. And last but not least Niall’s parents got a divorce, his dad was always away on business and his mom found out that he was cheating and well since she is a lawyer she got tons of money, the house and their vacation home in Florida.

“Honey what’s wrong? You seem a little tense when I talk about Niall, did something happen between you two?” my mom asks.

“Yeah son, did he steal your girlfriend?” my dad asks.

“Haha no, I’ll tell you later” I say, oh god, they think I like girls, ha! When I come out to them and I tell them Niall is my boyfriend, they are going to FREAK! Like oh my god they will disown me.

----At Grad----

“Niall Horan” the principal said as Niall went to get his diploma, he waved at his mom and brother and then at me giving me a wink.

“Zayn Malik” I head up smiling, I grab my paper and wave to everyone before exiting the stage.

Next came Liam and Harry, and well knowing Harry he would do the unthinkable.

As he got onstage he took his diploma, turned away from the crown and bent over mooning everyone.

“Dat Ass!” I heard Liam scream. I laughed, he sure knew how to end the year with a bang.

Niall ran up to me and gave me a huge hug, he pulled me in almost kissing me before he realized my parents were standing there.

“Niall, nice to see you” My father said.

“Uh hi?” he said lowly.

“Listen Mom, Dad, can we talk?” I say pulling Niall along with me, I wanted him to be there when I told my parents.

“What is it Zayn?” My mother said looking worried.

“Niall isn’t my best friend”

“What do you mean by that?” my dad questioned crossing his arms.

“He is well, he is my boyfriend, I’m gay. We have been together for almost a year, ten months thirteen days, two hours and 35 seconds” I say looking down at my watch.

“Oh, um well we weren’t expecting that” my father says looking down at the ground.

“Are you mad at me?”

“No, we are happy for you especially since your with a boy so nice as Niall” he said, my mom nodding in agreement.

“Thanks so much, this means the world to me!”

“No problem son, we are going to leave now so you and Niall can have some fun” my mom says winking, oh god why does she have to be so embarrassing.

“Hey” Niall says wrapping me in a hug.

“Thanks for sticking around, it really eased the tension”

“Not a problem, it got me thinking though, about well everything, how we started off and where we are now, also our future. In the blur of it all I never really stopped and looked at things and thought what happened?” he says staring into my eyes.

“What happened? Niall what happened is as simple as this, we fell in love” I reply as I pull him in for a kiss.
