A/N: how Emily dies in the book isn't going to be how she actually died. This whole book is just made up so please don't get all mad and defensive over this. And I know they weren't actually married but for this book they were.
*The day Emily Dickinson died back in 1886*
Emily and Sue, the two women who are so in love that people in town even find it so cute it's disgusting. But Sue is losing her wife to an Illness. No one knows what Illness they just know it's very deadly.
"Sue Emily is asking for you." The nurse says and Sue nods and walks up to their bedroom.
"Hey, honey."Sue says fake smiling and walks over to Emily.
"Sue you don't have to fake smile. It's okay to cry."Emily says
"Emily I can't lose you. You're all I have."Sue says tearing up
"Sue it's going to be okay. Promise me you're going to take care of our children and not fall into depression."Emily says then coughs
"Emily stop you're going to get better and Susan, and Emerson are going to have their other mother until they die."Sue says
"Sue honey I'm dying and we can't do anything about it."Emily says tearing up
"Yes, there is we can find more doctors or more nurses."Sue says sobbing
"No we can't just tell Susan and Emerson I love them and I'm sorry they are losing their mom at seven and five years old."Emily says and coughs up blood.
"No please don't leave us don't leave me. I can't do it on my own."Sue says and runs over to Emily and grabs her hand
"I'm sorry Sue but I have to go."Emily says
"No you don't."Sue says
"I'll find you in a different lifetime just like my parents used to tell each other."Emily says then she stops breathing. Sue starts sobbing and screaming and the nurse and Austin both run up to the room.
"She's gone."Sue screams and Austin pulls Sue into a hug and starts crying also.
"Sue it's going to be fine."Austin says and Sue pulls out of the hug
"How is it going to be fine Austin!"Sue yells.
Austin goes to say something but Sue starts yelling again
"My wife just died the mother of my daughter and son my soulmate. I have no one left."Sue yells not caring that Austin is seeing her cry
"Sue you still have Susan and Emerson."Austin says
"How am I going to tell them that their mother died."Sue says crying even more that she falls to the ground.
"Hey it's going to be okay I'm here for y'all I promise Emily that I would take care of y'all."Austin says and Sur falls into him crying into his chest.
A few minutes later Sue stops crying and walks downstairs where everyone is
"Mommy is Mama okay?"Sue and Emily's son Emerson asks and Sue sighs
"No baby Mama is gone."Sue says and everyone gasps
"No Mama has to be okay she promised she would always be here for us."Susan says crying and runs off
"Susan wait."Sue says running after their seven-year-old daughter while Austin hugs his crying five year old nephew.
"Susan honey stop."Sue says and grabs her daughter and Susan falls into Sue crying.
"She promised she would always be here for us."Susan says crying into Sue's chest.
"I know honey. She still is with us but she's just with us in spirit now."Sue says and Susan nods.
"I'm going to miss her mommy."Susan says and Sue tears up
"I am too sweetie I am too."Sue says.
After Susan calms down her and Sue walk back to Emily and Sue's house and Emerson jumps out of Austin's lap and latches onto Sue. Sue picks him up and kisses his head.
"I don't want Mama to be gone I want her here with me."Emeron says
"I know buddy. I want her here too but she had to go."Sue says
"She promised when she got better she would come play baseball with me."Emerson says crying and Sue tries to stop her tears from falling but she fails and starts crying and hugs her son tightly. Lavinia picks Susan up and hugs her.
A few hours later Sue puts Emerson and Susan into their bed and stays with them until they fall asleep. When she walks back downstairs Austin and Lavinia are the only ones still sitting there.
"When is Emily's funeral?"Lavinia asks sadly
"I don't know I can't think of that right now. I promised Emily I would take care of our kids before I thought of anything else and I'm going to keep that promise."Sue says
"Sue it's okay to cry."Austin says
"I can't cry because If I cry I don't think I'll ever stop."Sue says tearing up again.
"You just lost Emily you're going to cry."Lavinia says
"I don't know how I'm going to do this without her Lavinia. I miss her already and she's only been dead for seven hours. How am I going to last the last years of my life without her by my side. She was supposed to be here with me and with our kids."Sue says sobbing and Lavinia pulls her into a hug.
"Hey I can't say it's going to be okay because I know it's not. You loved Emily more then you loved anything or anyone else in your life. So it's going to be very hard to deal with her death and the kids and them growing up without her."Lavinia says
"You'll find her in a different lifetime. Our parents use to say the same thing and I believe if you love someone as much as you say you do you're definitely find them in a different lifetime."Austin says
"Emily told me that before she died."Sue says and Austin nods and smiles sadly.
"Austin and I are always going to be here for you."Lavinia says and Sue smiles sadly and nods.
*27 years later*
Susan is now 34 and is married to a guy named Andy they have three kids together the oldest is twelve and is named Emily Sue Gibson. And their two twin sons that are 6 are named Austin Jason Gibson and Adam Emerson Gibson.
Emerson is 32 and is married to a girl named Katherine. And they have two kids the oldest is ten and his name is David William Dickinson and their daughter who is five is named Susan Katherine Dickinson.
Sue has been feeling a little off lately she hasn't been feeling like herself.
These last 27 years has been hard on Sue since Emily is gone but she loves her kidd and grandkids. She wishes Emily could've watched Emerson and Susan grow up or even met their grandkids.
"Hey mom how are you doing?"Susan asks walking into Sue and Emily's bedroom.
"Susan honey I need you to get brother I think it's time for me to go."Sue says and Susan nods tearing up. A few seconds later Susan comes back with a red eyed Emerson.
"I love you mom."Emerson says and kisses Sue's head.
"I love you too please watch out for your sister."Sue says
"I will I promise."Emerson says
"Please find Mama."Susan says
"I'm going to trust me I miss her so much."Sue says smiling.
After a few minutes Sue ends up dying and The nurse walks in while Emerson pulls Susan into a hug and they both cry.
