Upon hearing what Ethan had said, Olivia looked down at herself with a puzzled expression, then looked up at him. He had the widest eyes as he nodded to his own words, as if to show her how right he was.
"First of all," he began, shaking his head, "you look awful. Secondly, this place looks awful because you don't clean up."
"You-"
"And finally!" He cut her off. "This is happening when you're pregnant." He shoved his hand in his pocket, taking out a set of keys and dropping them on the table.
"What's this?" she asked, tilting her head.
"The keys to your new apartment. Pick them up."
"No."
"This isn't the time for you to be stubborn." He gritted his teeth. "I'm giving you the luxuries of life again and you're in no position to turn down any of it."
"Fuck this," she said, making her way out of the living room to get away from him.
"Get back here." He reached for her with wide steps, grabbing onto her wrist and pulling her back.
"Let me go!" She grunted. "I won't stand here and l-"
"Shut up and listen!" he yelled back, his grip on her wrist tightening with a poker face.
"I hate you." She twisted her face in anger, attempting to break free.
He scoffed. "I'm aware of that, but I'm still taking care of you."
"I don't need you to take care of me." She finally pulled her wrist away as he loosened his grip, still standing close to him.
"Had it just been you, I wouldn't even be here. Stop acting so tough and pick up the keys. I expect you to move into my apartment by tomorrow."
She sighed in frustration. "That just made it sound like I'm supposed to do exactly as instructed."
"You're right about that." He confidently nodded with a chuckle, looking at her messy hair as he imagined the last time they fucked and he pulled it several times. "Once you move in, I'll visit you whenever I want."
"Why?" She narrowed her eyes.
"Don't think it's because of you. It's for the sake of the baby."
"I'm aware of that."
"That didn't seem to be the case when you asked for a reason. Could it be that you were hoping for something different?"
"Don't let my question go to your head." She smirked, crossing her arms. "Even if you're doing all this for the baby, why not just let me live here so you can visit me?"
"No."
"Giving me the keys to your apartment is a bit too extreme. I'm not even that far along in the pregnancy."
"It doesn't matter. I'm sending you all the help you'll need to move out. I'm coming to check on you tomorrow at my apartment, so I expect you to be there by evening, alright?"
He moved his face closer, raising his eyebrows to show that all he expected was for her to agree.
It took a while for her to respond and when he thought she would finally say something, she only sighed in defeat.
"Hey," he said, his voice a little more gentle as he wrapped his hand around her wrist again, moving his face closer to hers. "Now isn't the time to think about yourself. Think about our baby first. You move in tomorrow, alright?"
Just when it seemed she wouldn't give the response he hoped for, because she took too long, her eyes finally softened and she pressed her lips together with a light nod.
