"Why... why did Paimon ever agree to this?"

The supposed optimistic voice of the great Paimon was nowhere to be found as the Pixie said all this in a deadpan tone, as her normally bright blue eyes with a tint of purple seemed to have lost all faith in humanity as she stared down blankly. While Lumine, the source of her mood, stalked the woods gently and carefully while clutching Paimon like a teddy bear.

Paimon had no idea why such a thing came to happen to her. It never even crossed the Pixie's mind. And why would she?

Why, in the first place, would she ever picture herself to be coated in mud from head to toe?

She wasn't some weirdo who gets her jollies in a twist by covering herself in grim!

While raging inside, the Pixie was currently looking disheartened as she glanced at the disgusting and smelly mud that covered her hands, face, cheeks, and pretty much her entire body.

But she hopes it was all just mud, though. Archons forbade her from thinking of it as anything other than mud.

But she just couldn't refuse; the Traveller was super insistent at the time, and that crafty blonde devil said nothing to her because she knew that Lumine knew that if she were to know all the context, Paimon would head to Liyue stat, no questions asked. So with that in mind, Lumine simply instructed Paimon to follow along with her plan, and the sweet, ignorant Paimon was too happy to comply.

And because of her quick trust, the Pixie paid the price.

A horrible price.

If she gets eaten while looking like this, she will make sure to punish Lumine severely—if they haven't already died, that is!

Paimon would like to go out in style in the future! Not in stinky muck filled with yuck!

"Please refrain from wriggling, Paimon. The best course of action for getting the dragon to overlook our scent was this..." Lumine gestured to herself helplessly, as she too was covered in mud.

Though, hearing her explanation, Paimon just rolled her eyes at that, unconvinced. "You know, Paimon's starting to miss that spineless Lumine, who always behaves the same as a headless chicken every few minutes. Where did she go again?" The Pixie asked this sarcastically while she crossing her hands, observing Lumine fighting a bunch of hilichurls with ease.

The Pixie was actually impressed with her skills but wouldn't comment any further. So she stayed stubbornly silent.

It was actually strange not hearing the usual chatter from her lively traveling companion, and knowing that Paimon was truly furious with her, Lumine was forced to let the tense silence hang in the air as she descended further

____✧____

After roughly fifteen minutes of silent exploration, they both suddenly heard something up ahead.

Paimon, who had grown tired of being carried around, broke free of Lumine's grip to investigate the disturbance by taking advantage of Lumine's hesitation.

And before the Traveller could stop her, Paimon had already flown outside of her range, leaving her helpless to watch the Pixie approach, which Lumine can only interpret as DANGER!
