I could see the white suburban home as we reached closer. It wasn't too big or too small just the right size for tamaya, dad and I

Sometimes I wish mum wasn't that sick but I guess that's just how some things in life works. "You okay?" Tamaya confirms once again as we just came back from visiting mum at dad and I and dad nods again "Yep, I'm fine Tammy!" she smiles and gets back to looking out her window again. The sun was shining on her face making her tan skin look golden

I pick up my camera and click a picture without her noticing. I open my window and get a few more pictures

When we've finally reached and I look around to see kids kicking a ball around while the little girls played hopscotch in the backyard. I could hear the faint chatter of people in their houses and the sound of television.

My phone rings and I check the contact mum. "Hey mum! what's up?" I say keeping my voice light and bubbly cause that's how she likes it and remembers it to be. She coughs for a good minute and then says "Oh nothing baby, do you guys like your new home?"

I smile remembering tamaya being excited to tell mum about it "Yeah mum it's really pretty, I'll send you the pictures later" I could hear Kennedy her nurse saying "Giselle come on it's time for bed" mum says sounding clearly disappointed "Bye baby I love you and tell Tammy and your dad that I said I love you" and she cuts the call

I get out of the car, the camera still in my neck and start streching for a little bit

Dad started with unlocking the door and I start with getting the bags out along with Tammy. Tammy has been awfully quiet this whole trip and that usually happens when she's nervous, shy or she's not happy with something

I nudge her lightly and she turns at me with boxes covering her face "You okay?" she just continues walking and I tag along "Yeah, yeah I'm perfectly fine why wouldn't I be?" I say still insisting "You only say that when you're not at all fine" she furrows her brows "I'm seriously fine Morgie don't worry"

"I feel like something did happen Tammy" I say now dropping the bag. She huffs "Drop it Morgie I'm fine" but I still don't "Tell me what's wrong" I say now sitting her down and taking her hands in mine

I slowly start humming and then sing the tune mum used to sing for me when I won't tell her something.

Tammy wipes out the tear which slipped out "Mum called" I smile "Mum called you again?" she shakes her head "My actual mum called Morgie" she slowly draws out and I stay there my eyes wide open and my jaw dropped Tammy's mum calling is always bad news. It always has to be something Tammy has to go to court for sorting it out

She silently cries while I hug her and we stay in each other's embrace and thankfully dad doesn't ask us. He looks at us and gives a sad smile before continuing to unpack
