Aponi Creek knew from the moment her little feet touched the Earth's soil that she was meant for more than what the human world could give her.

Her grandmother never forgot to remind her of that fact, blessing her in the native tongue of her people, labeling her a warrior; a peacekeeper, and she wore those titles proudly. Her grandmother always insisted on telling Aponi that she was going to be the savior of more than just her family; and that day came in the form of two men dressed in black suits at her door when she was 15, a mere few days after the birth of her youngest sister.

"You will be performing tasks for the RDA as a translator and mediator. You will interpret the speech of the natives of Pandora. This will help us peacefully maneuver around them so that they will let us collect resources in peace." One of the men stated calmly, causing Aponi to let out a laugh.

"You realize that's bullshit, right? 'Peacefully move them'? I'm not stupid. I know what your people do to others to get what you need." Her voice was sharp, cutting through the stiff silence in the room. Her grandmother was by her side, taking the girl's hand in her own softly. Aponi stopped herself from continuing, looking at her guardian with bright, fierce eyes. "What is it, grandmother?" She asked in her native tongue, ignoring the two men who sat in front of her impatiently.

"I know you do not want to, ista cheh. But this is your calling. You were always meant to be the fighter for those who could not fight themselves. Take this choice, be the change. It is the way." Her grandmother said softly, squeezing the teenager's hand in her own frailer one. With baited breath, the men watched as Aponi let out a sigh, turning around to stare at the two men with an unblinking gaze.

"I'll do it." She let out, shaking the hand of one of the men with one inked hand, the other clasping her necklace. Little did she know the impact that her choice was going to have on the rest of her life.

OR when Aponi is given the opportunity of a lifetime and takes it, she's given more than just a job in Pandora; she's given two lovers and a home that reminds her of the one back on Earth.
