The New Arrival

Hiiiii! Just letting you know, I haven't figured out how to do bold or italic writing on my laptop, so /word/ will be a memory, sorry about that!

When Y/N stepped into the room, everyone fell quiet. Bucky's eyes flashed a little as she grinned at Peter, before waving at Wanda and Nat. He recognised her, even though it had been quite a while since the first meeting.

/Bucky was late for his friends, and so rushed to the beach where they were meant to be training. Instead, he saw a few of them lazing round on deck-chairs, some building sandcastles, while others played in the waves.

"Um. What's going on?" He asked Steve, plonking himself on the deck-chair beside him.

"Look there. Ya see that girl, the one who looks like Wanda but without the perfect hair?

Bucky looked. The girl did look a lot like Wanda, with the same green eyes (hers slightly darker) and wind-swept red hair. She was gorgeous and he fell in love with her immediately.

"That's Y/N. Since it's the first meeting with her, Wanda wanted to have fun, rather than train." Steve continued. "Don't look too long, you'll go blind." Well, obviously, it wasn't just him then... Bucky watched Y/N jump over the waves. He watched her tease Wanda, and giggle with Nat. He wished he was down there, flirting with her like Steve would have done, but something about her made him feel shy. He watched as they drifted farther from the chairs, and deeper into the waves.

"Y/N, look after Peter please!" Wanda cried, as he almost got swept into the ocean. Y/N grinned, and said something Bucky couldn't hear, before grabbing Peter's hand and squeezing it. Bucky felt his heart jump at this display of affection, and a feeling he had never felt came into his stomach. 'So this is what it feels like to be Steve.' He thought, jokingly. But he didn't feel in a jokey mood. When Natasha, Wanda, Y/N and Kate came skipping up the sand and announced that they were going to have a girl's day, Bucky breathed a sigh of relief. Now he could actually enjoy himself, without all four girls giggling in Russian, which Kate had actually taken the time to learn. When they almost fell on top of each other in hysterics, Bucky grumpily muttered to himself about how he could definitely translate their whispers if spoken louder, before turning to the group and smiling.

"Sure, have fun!" He said, before walking off with Steve and Peter while the girls sprinted to Nat's car, still in hysterics. As soon as they were out of earshot, Steve turned to Peter and asked for Y/N's number. Bucky felt sick. Of course Steve was going to win her over, he always did. And then they were going to be together, and Bucky was going to be alone again. Honestly, what happened to Sharon Carter? Steve had a habit of kissing and ditching. He groaned with envy as Peter teased Steve, before handing over a slip of paper which he had scribbled Y/N's number on. Girls NEVER made him feel this way. They always came to him, it was never the other way round. Y/N was different. He wasn't sure he didn't like that./

Bucky was broken out of his thoughts by the excited chatter going on around him. No one had expected Y/N to be the new arrival, not even Wanda. Although there were some who didn't know the girl, they all immediately took to her, and Steve had to quickly introduce each Avenger.

"Clint, Tony, Sam, and whoever else hasn't met her, this is Y/N Maximoff. She's Wanda's sister. "

"Cool." Sam smiled at Y/N. "Hey, Y/N, I'm Sam."

"Tony Stark." Tony raised his eyebrows, not unwelcoming, but not quite the warm greeting the others had given. "What are your... you know.. powers?" Y/N smiled. She knew his type: cool, sarcastic and slightly full-of-himself. She leaned in closer and whispered into Tony's ear. He jumped back in surprise and fright, and Bucky wondered what she had said to make him so scared. He raised his eyebrows and whispered something back, but when Y/N leaned in the second time, Bucky was sure they were just taking the opportunity to flirt, and looked away. Y/N flirted with everyone. Even more than Natasha. The problem Bucky had with that, is that he thought she should only flirt with him. She should only love him. But that wasn't working out. So, he was going to have to make her.
