(a) The intimacy component.
"In the context of the triangular theory, the intimacy component refers to those feelings in a relationship that promote closeness, bondedness, and connectedness. It thus includes within its purview those feelings that give rise, essentially, to the experience of warmth in a loving relationship. In this case is not used in a trivial sense. This intimate liking characterizes true friendships, in which a person feels a bondedness, a warmth, and a closeness with another."
It was an unusual day.
As Lucas looked ahead, the dirt road in front of him seemed as if it was a never ending path towards uncertainty. Leaves crunched under his leather boots as he walked past one step at a time. His line of sight was filled with trees and bushes, some critters and wild animals frolicking around in their natural habitat, and his companion who was looking around with clear intention and purpose. His steps slowed down into a stop as he noticed his companion stopped on her tracks and walked a few feet behind him, eyes trained on something in the forest.
He followed her gaze but didn't find what she was focused on. "I think there's something there," his companion voiced out loud, answering his unsaid question as she was pulling out her slingshot in one skillful motion- a practiced habit- waiting and waiting for the potential threat to show itself.
Sounds of movement and rustling were heard in the forest and without needing to be told, Lucas approached her and stayed close. A habit he had been accustomed to for years now. And it seemed like it wasn't going to stop. He put her hand on her back as he looked around as subtly as he could, feeling the rise of anxiousness pooling deep inside his stomach.
Panic ran through his mind as he hypothesized who could be the enemy on the other side. Could it be the soldiers searching for them again? Could the rats be coming back again after all this time? Is there already another carrier? Could it be a dangerous animal out with the intention to kill? Despite the panic cursing through his mind, he tried to steady himself as he focused on the situation at hand first. 'We can do this, like how we always do.' he assured himself as he took a long deep breath.
The both of them moved slowly to a safer and more strategic place, trying to not alert whatever they were dealing with. He prepared some ignifier quietly just in case, so when push came to shove he could hand it to her immidiately and they could defend themself in a beat, without wasting much time.
"Amicia, what was that?" he asked in a hushed tone, being careful to not alert the... thing that was still unknown to both of them at the moment.
His companion took a breath and whispered, "I don't know but we should be ready just in case."
The rustling came closer and closer fast. Amicia anticipated that as she readied herself and went into position, Lucas slid the ignifier he made into her hand in a swift motion. She thanked him with an approving smile and nodded, but still remained her eyes on the direction of the sound.
And in a sudden, the enemy jumped from the bushes. Showing off its white fluffy tail and large black eyes blinking slowly, wiggling its long ears. A bunny, an innocent bunny. They were worried about a bunny.
Unbelievable.
An unexpected roar of laughter came out of Amicia as the realization dawned to her. "This is stupid, it was just a cute little bunny," she uttered. Lucas stared at her unknowingly as she wheezed out those words, it was a sweet moment between the both of them. He smiled to himself, however when he noticed what he was doing he dropped his smile and averted his gaze away from her, confused on what he was doing. Her laugh was infectious, in the end he let out a giggle that turned into a free laugh. He had to agree it was a little stupid.
