Aether waved his wand and a gust of wind filled the room. A gust of wispy winds formed in front of Barbara and soon swept her towards the doorway. She shivered in the cool wind and watched as Childe and Itto escorted her out the door. Once she was out, a flash of lightning lit the air. The flash illuminated Barbara as she stepped out the doorway. She took in her surroundings and breathed in deeply. Then she looked over at Dainless. She spoke. "Master Dainsleif, I'm sorry. I don't mean to hurt your home."

Dainsleif said, "Childe and I understand. I think it's something to do with the ghosts or spirits you see around here."Yae-Miko stepped out of the doorway. He walked through the windstorm and looked over at Barbara. He stepped over to Barbara. He reached out his hand. "I wish you the best. See you later. May the spirits be with you."

"Let me talk to Rose and Merlin first," Barbara said. They waited in the field as another new Wanderer came in. The child stood in the center of the field, looking around. When she saw them her face lit up and she ran towards them. She ran through the crowd, greeting each and every wanderer. As she reached Barbara she leapt into her arms. She spoke with the childish lisp of the younger Wanderers, but her words came across clearly to all. She said, "I know that Childe has been telling everyone that I have to stay. But I need to go to the city, to the place that belongs to all the wanderers."

Barbara looked up into the young girl's face. The young girl spoke in the child's slow voice and had no manner of accent. She said, "Zhongli is my friend and I need to go to her. Please, Wanderer, let me go. I have to get to the place that belongs to all the wanderers."Barbara looked around and said, "You must leave tomorrow morning. We must be back on Helene. I am anxious to see you to make sure that all is well."Yae-Miko pulled the child back as Merlin approached from behind. He said, "Wanderer, you are so kind. Rose sent her daughter to visit you. We are so fortunate to have her. She is such a sweet girl."

Rose spoke up. She said, "I am very lucky to have such friends and a place to stay. I am very happy. Thank you, Wanderer."They all walked back to the house and sat in the courtyard. The sky began to darken as the sun slowly sunk into the horizon. Itto spoke up. "It's time for dinner. Then we'll play some wanderer games and go to bed. Some of you will be coming with me."The children filed into the house and the adults began to prepare dinner. The Elders gathered in the kitchen and started to prepare their meal. They could hear the children in the other rooms as they joked and played. They even heard some children bickering and arguing. They could even hear some of them whispering to each other, arguing about what game to play.

The Elders ate and talked about the events that had happened during the evening. The Elders wanted to know all that had been discussed. The Elders also listened as they saw the children, then the adult wanderers, and finally the Wanderers themselves. Dainsleif spoke up. "I think the time has come for us to stop forcing the children into staying here. I think we should stop trying to instill a sense of belonging or ownership. Maybe we should help the children in other ways. For example, the child that broke the pitcher of water told the Elders that she would stay. That she was going to stay. That she was happy here. I can't say that's the wrong decision. Maybe we should let the children decide what they want."The Elders heard Merlin speak up. "Many of the children stay because of the stories they've heard. Some of them would prefer to stay and hear those stories. Maybe we should tell those stories and help them stay. I understand what Master Dainsleif is saying. They can't stay unless they want to. If they stay, they might want to hear more stories. Maybe we should allow the children to decide."

Father Vithor spoke up. "The parents of the children have told the children to stay, but those are adult stories. Perhaps those stories do not interest the children as much. If the children want to hear the stories we should tell the stories."There was silence in the room for a moment and then Merlin spoke up. "Some of the stories are not bad. The stories that Uncle Xander is telling have some good stories in them. The stories that Master Zhongli told us were good. The stories that Barbara told us were good. The stories that I have told the children were good. There are many good stories. Some of them are even good enough to have been included in the Elders' Library of Stories. I think we should tell the children the stories that we want them to know."

The Elders and children discussed that. The children wanted to hear more stories about the wanderers and the wanderers wanted to hear more stories about the child wanderers. The Elders agreed that it would be good to tell more stories. The adults talked about what story to tell. Some of them remembered stories about the wanderers that they heard from the child wanderers. Some of the Elders remembered stories that they had heard from other wanderers in other places. Some of them remembered stories that they had heard about the Childe's adventures. Some of the elders remembered stories from their childhood.

The Elders told a few stories, some of the stories that they had heard in other places and some stories that they had heard about other children. When they were finished they asked the child wanderers to tell some stories about their adventures. Barbara remembered a story that was in one of the other stories. She said, "I told you that story about the bad fairy. Well, I told you that story, but then I made it worse. The story was about the fairy that stole the child and then tried to kill her, but then she kissed her and the fairy couldn't kill her and the fairy had to give her to the child's father. The fairy didn't like that. She tried to kill the child's father too, but her daughter showed up and made her give the child to the father. She said that she was going to make sure the father never got the child back and he was going to have to chase her for the rest of his life."

The Elders listened as Barbara continued. "The good fairy then made the bad fairy fall in the river. Then the bad fairy tried to get the child, but the good fairy hit her in the face and made her fall on her head in the river. She was now dead and the fairy couldn't steal the child. That's what I made happen."

The Elders asked Dainsleif about the stories that he wanted to tell and the stories that he remembered from his own childhood. Dainsleif told a story about his sister. He told the story about his sister going out and stealing some mushrooms. He said, "I told you that story about my sister stealing the mushrooms. Well, I made the story worse. When my sister stole the mushrooms she went to the wanderers. The wanderers lived in the caves and that's where they made the bad mushrooms. That's where they made the bad mushrooms. Then my sister stole some of the mushrooms and made her brother smell them. Then he went out to find some mushrooms for himself. My sister told him where they were and he went to the caves and found the bad mushrooms and tasted them. Then the bad fairy made the bad mushrooms taste good and the wanderers ate all the bad mushrooms and became healthy. Then they took the bad mushrooms away from the children and gave the good mushrooms to the children. Then the children got to hear the good stories and the children got to make the stories better and that was what I made happen."

Father Dainsleif told some of the other stories that he remembered. Father Dainsleif told the story about the child wanderers when they were on the roofs of the houses. He told a story about Dainsleif, Itto, and Yae-Miko going out to the forest. He said, "The Childe told us that story about the child wanderers and I told you about the story when they were in the houses. Well, the story was about my sister and Dainsleif and Itto going out to the forest to look for something for Dainsleif to eat and they went up on the roofs of the houses. It was so cold that they went back inside and made the house warmer."After Father Dainsleif told the story the child wanderers talked about the stories that they had told. There was a lot of laughter and jokes. Then the child wanderers asked the child wanderers some questions about the stories that they had told. They asked Dainsleif some questions about the stories that he had told and Barbara about the story that she had made up. Dainsleif talked about the stories that Barbara made up and he talked about the stories that Barbara made up and the child wanderers talked about them. Then they talked about the stories that the child wanderers made up and there was a lot of laughter and jokes. Then the child wanderers told Barbara some of the stories that she had made up and Barbara talked about them. There was a lot of laughter and jokes.
