Prologue: Proposal

This story takes place from the perspective of Aether. Lumine is found and safely back with him, and the two have gone on many adventures in Teyvat together. Anything that Aether does not see personally will not be mentioned UNLESS felt necessary to swap POVs, and in that case, there will be a warning not unlike this one at the start of the chapter.

Aether walked along the red maze of steps in Liyue, his sister Lumine beside him. He noticed that she, although having traveled across Teyvat much more than himself, still walked around the harbor with a wonder almost equivalent to that of a child. He also noticed that she had her eyes fixated on the doors of Northland Bank. So that's why she wanted to take a walk around Liyue. Childe. Of course, as her brother, he had to poke fun at her. Just a little bit.

"So... where did you want to go again? Northland Bank is a bit of a weird spot for a day out," he teased, laughing when she turned to him with a slight blush on her face.

"Uh- ah, nothing, nothing! I guess you got me," Lumine said with a sigh. "I... did want to see how he was doing today. He's been a bit sadder after his siblings left. I promise, though, it'll be quick and then we can go do whatever!"

"Okay, if you say so," Aether replied, internally shaking his head. Nothing was ever 'quick' when it came to her and Childe. They weren't sneaky, per se, but they could talk on and on for hours (they'd been dating for a long time now) while Aether would be stuck, on the couch, playing chess with himself (or Keqing, when she walked in, which she usually did at about noon.)

They continued to walk up the steps before entering the bank. Aether took his regular spot on the couch before realizing there was a different, more excited-seeming aura around Childe (though he hadn't noticed Lumine yet), who Lumine had skipped straight over to the back to talk to with a giant smile on her face. He had to strain his ears a bit to hear them, as he did every week when she checked up on him. She stood on the tips of her toes and covered his eyes with a small laugh, hugging him when he turned around, a huge smile on his face.

"Back again?" He said with a laugh, hugging her back. "And so soon, after Teucer and Tonia left?" His posture slumped for a tenth of a second before he pulled himself together. "Anyways. Can you come with me to the back for a second? I have something to show you," he said, grinning again. Hmm. He usually talks to her in the back of the lobby. How will I keep an eye on her now? Aether thought, before remembering his past adventures. No matter. I guess I'm quite used to sneaking around now. He waited until they'd walked away before following them to the hallway just outside the room, his back against the door as he listened to the muffled voices within.

"What's happening?" Lumine asked, a curious and worried tone in her voice. "Is everything alright?"

"Well. Um, this is hardly the time or place, but, um..." Childe stumbled over his words a bit, his confident facade being lost in the moment.

"Will you marry me?"
