The Secrets Under Her Skin

A New Life

Her body laid on the bed once again, wands were pointed at her limp body as spells were casted while gauze was wrapped around the opened wounds. The night had returned while the scars were questionably newly-gashed. Minutes before the scars were only a discoloration of skin, now they laid on her body red and some bled through her cloth.

"Finch, why is it now that she is bleeding?" Asher was down at her thigh to apply pressure at an unattended wound with Ryker near her bullet wound in an attempt to suppress her blood loss. Steam rose from the cauldron in pink fumes with Skylar blowing it away only to continue. "It must be correlated with her powers" Finch said, working onto her bullet wound leaving Ryker to wrap her arm, "I believe so" Janet concluded, "The cause of this was some sort of blockage of the physical injury, be thankful it isn't any worse".

The wounds were dried and secured with bandages that now surrounded her body. All had lost their breath with Janet and Finch with their hands covering their eyes as their backs fell against the wall. "Her luck is the worst, she's broken hundreds of mirrors with this streak. When will she learn to control these... powers?" Skylar asked as her fingers twirled the spoon and the potion was divided into multiple bottles.

"I'll discuss that with her later, but for now her wounds have to heal, when she wakes up do the spell" Finch said, "I believe her tools should be ready today".

Ring ring ring... Finch's hands roamed his pockets as he abruptly exited the area to rush answering the call. Janet, the head doctor of the establishment, opened a cabinet beside her bed where both Asher and Ryker sat with a hand beside the girl.

"Two of all these medications a day, it will be the quickest for her to heal and return to a daily life" Janet placed 3 bottles all on the nightstand, "I would recommend a wheelchair for her for the next coming days, we have a lot on our schedule. Skylar, do you remember where they are? Her leg has seen better days". "They are in my room Janet" Skylar spoke with certainty, "I'll bring it for tomorrow".

"Excellent, I'll be on my way and I have to assume she will be in pain once awake, try and keep her distracted especially while performing the spell Finch told you to do" All three of them nodded their head while receiving a smile from Ryker's mother, and with that she left; leaving the three who stood in silence.

"Sky, what spell are they telling you to conduct?" Ryker asked, who she was training to become one of the medics for their army, "It's one that can seal wounds within hours, but the conjuring of the spell is painful, which is why we don't commonly use it".

"I think I know that one, isn't it an advanced spell?" Asher asked, "It is, but remember I've been doing this for years so I have been able to use it well in the last few months".

There was a shift on the bed, then in the atmosphere of her companions as her eyes peeled open to the brightness of the room with faint fumes scattered around the room. Her face immediately squinted from the lingering pain of the abdomen and now the repeated pain scattered throughout her body. Andrea's head was thrown back to meet the pillows as steps approached her with a glass hitting the wood.

"Andrea, I'm going to have to conjure a few spells to help with the healing, and they will hurt but only for a little" Skylar said, her knees bent to meet Andrea's face. Andrea was covering parts of her face as she took heavy breaths, "I thought... I thought it had healed". Mocha brown eyes looked into Skylar's which were a shade of blue-green, "They never did, it will be quick, I promise".

Andrea never had much time to think as she felt pairs of arms holding her down to the mattress with a face kneeling besides hers that had his own arm blocking her view. Her breath fanned their arm as she felt a cold release on her forearm, more so the gauze being removed to show a gaping cut.
