~Ellen's POV~

The room was crowded. Music blared but I couldn't even hear the words. I clutched my red plastic cup harder and harder and people shuffled around me.

"Ellen," I heard someone say behind me. I turned slowly. Thank God. It was only Megan, my best friend.

"Yeah?" I asked quietly, looking around the room nervously.

"You okay?" She questioned, waving her hands in front of my eyes, trying to capture my attention.

"Um yeah." I answered, and forced a slight smile. I had the same 'I'm lying' smile every time I lied. But Megan was probably too drunk to notice.

She was a terrible drunk after all, and if she hadn't dragged me along, would probably have slept with five guys before the night was over.

"Okay." Megan said, backing up, and proceeded to mingle.

I made my way over to the kitchen, and poured myself more beer, even though I hadn't touched my drink yet. Then proceeded to the same corner I had been standing before.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was a heavy hand, cold and rough. I shut my eyes tightly and turned around. Shit. It was Derek.

"Where have you been, baby?" He asked, his dark brown eyes piercing into mine. I tried to avoid eye contact with him, but he shook me, making me look up at him.

"Around," I said, my voice barely audible.

"I know that smart ass. But you didn't tell me you were going to a party." He leaned in closer, and I tried to pull away, but he caught my arm. "You know what happens when you don't tell me where you're going, right?"

I took a deep breath, shaking my head.

"You get hit." He grinned devilishly, and smacked me across my face. "Maybe that will teach you not to sneak away from me." This time he punched my ribs, making tears fall down my cheek.

I squirmed out of his big hands, fearful for what would come next. I ran for the door, and he chased after me. I ran down the cement steps and down the street, and to the park, until there was no one behind me.

I tip toed behind a big oak tree, and started to cry harder. My pretty white lace dress was now a bit bloody, and I was sure there was eyeliner and mascara running down my face. But the pain was what hurt the most. I cried and cried until I finally fell asleep.
