I sit at my throne with Chaddick, my Royal Guard Boyfriend, positioned at my right. His eagerness to protect the ones he loves, as well as his Kingdom, reminds me strongly of my father. That's the main reason I was drawn to him.
"Your Majesty, there is word of a visitor arriving to see you." Benedict, the news runner, tells me as he bows. I nod. "Any clue on who it is, Benedict?" I ask. He straightens his posture. "No, my Queen. I'm sorry." he answers. I smile. "It's okay, Benedict. I guess we'll see once they arrive." I tell him. He nods then exits the throne room. "That's a little concerning, don't you think?" Chaddick asks. I shake my head, keeping my gaze fixed on the entrance. "No, Chaddick. Not at all. I have a good feeling about it, if I'm being honest." I reply. He looks at me, confused. "What do you mean 'good feeling'?" I look up at him. "I'm not overly sure. I just have a good feeling about who's coming." I explain. "You don't even know who's coming." he states. I look away, rolling my eyes. He's so black-and-white sometimes. "I know that, Chaddick." I snap. He takes a step back. The fact that my own boyfriend is scared of me in offputting, but somewhat empowering.
An uncomfortable minute passes. I rise from my throne. "I'm going for a walk." I say, stepping away from Chaddick and my throne. Chaddick steps forward to follow. "Alone." I add. He stops, stepping back, his head lowered. I exit the castle and stroll out into the courtyard. It's filled with Villagers buying and selling items. I walk over to a stall selling fresh fruit. "How much for a Peach?" I ask. The sales person looks up at my, shock plaguing their face. They bow. "For you, Your Majesty, it's free of charge." they stutter. I shake my head. "Nonsense. I appreciate your kindness, but please. How much?" I ask again, smiling. "Four pieces, Your Majesty." they reply. I pick a large Peach from the bunch and hand the sales person eight pieces. "Keep the rest." I say. They gasp. "T-thank you, Your Majesty." they breathe out. "You're welcome, dear." I say walking away.
As I bite into the Peach, I hear someone stop behind me. I turn around to face them. "Benedict, what's wrong?" I ask. "She's here, Your Majesty." I nod, biting the Peach. As I enter the castle, I drop the stone of the fruit into a nearby bin. I enter my throne room. My eyes meet the back of a blonde haired woman. I look at Chaddick who has an aggressive look upon his face. "Take a breath, Chaddick." I say, walking past the woman. I stand in front of my throne. Her eyes meet mine. "Ravenna." I smile. "It's so lovely to see you." I exclaim. Chaddick raises an eyebrow. "You know her?" he asks rudely. "Yes, I do. She's the Queen of Tabor." I reply. "O-oh." he stutters. I sigh. "Chaddick, please leave. I don't need you here." I order. "But Y/n-" he tries. I turn my full body to face him. "That's Queen Y/n to you. Just because you're my boyfriend, doesn't mean you are excused from addressing me how I should be addressed." I snap. He nods. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty." he says, leaving the room.
I walk over to Ravenna and pull her into a tight hug, to which she returns instantly. "I would be lying if I said I hadn't missed you." I say. She chuckles. "As would I. Six years is far too long." she answers. I pull back from the hug, my hands resting on her arms. "Entirely too long." I sigh happily. "So much has changed here over the years. Let me show you around." I offer. She nods. "I would love for you to show me your fantastic Kingdom." she replies. I blush slightly.
As I lead Ravenna around the inclosed part of the Kingdom, we stop at a few stalls to check out items for sale. "It's beautiful here, Y/n. You've helped your Kingdom grow so well." Ravenna praises. I blush a bright red. "Thank you." I smile. "With knowing that, I need to ask you of a favour." she starts. We both stop. "Of course, Ravenna. You know I'm here to help you. What do you need?" I ask. She takes a deep breath. "Tabor's economy is plumetting and I don't know what to do. I need help. I need your help." she tells me. I nod. "Anything, Ravenna. I'll do anything. Let me finish showing you around, then we can discuss it over dinner." I answer. She nods. "Thank you, Y/n. You have no idea how much that means to me." she thanks. I hug her. "Anything for you, Ravenna."
Later that night at Dinner, Ravenna and I sit there discussing the matters of Tabor. I haven't seen Chaddick since I dismissed him earlier, but I'm not complaining. "I say we set off to Tabor tomorrow, what do you think?" I suggest, sipping my wine. "I don't mind. I'm just grateful you've agreed to help." Ravenna answers. "Like I said Ravenna, I'll do anything for you. You're my dearest friend." She blushes. "Thank you, Y/n." I smile. "Of course. Adrian, can you have a room set up for Queen Ravenna tonight?" I ask, looking to my left. Adrian nods and exits the room, leaving us alone.
"So you have a boyfriend. Chaddick, was it?" she asks. I catch a hint of jealousy in her tone. I nod, swallowing my mouthful. "Yes, Chaddick." I answer. "How long have you two been together?" she questions. "Not long. Only about four months." I tell her. She nods. "Is he the one?" she asks. "What do you mean?" I question. "Are you in love? Is he the one for you?" she elaborates. I instantly shake my head. "No, I'm not in love." I tell her. Her eyes widen. "Why are you with him then?" she asks. I shrug. "I love him. I think I do anyways. I'm not in love, but I do have feelings for him." I explain. She nods slowly. "Right, that makes sense." she says. I scoff. "You act like this towards every boy I tell you about, Ravenna. Why?" she shrugs. "He's not good enough for you, that's all." she tells me. "You don't even know him." I argue. "Don't need to, Y/n. He's not worthy enough for you." she says. I laugh.
"Give an example of someone who is worthy enough for me." I order. "Someone who will love you always, respect you always. Someone who will be there for you no matter what happens." she lists. "He is like that." I say, voice louder than before. "You're a Queen and he called you by your first name. That's not respect. He's not here right now. He isn't here no matter what." she argues. I sigh, slumping into my chair. "Okay, you win." I say defeated. "I always am." she says, a smile on her face.
As the kitchen staff are clearing the dining table, Chaddick storms into the room. "Y/n- Queen y/n, I need to speak with you out-" he starts. His sudden stopping of speaking confuses me. I look behind me at Ravenna who is glaring at him. A ghost of a smile washes over me. "Your Majesty, may I have a word outside?" he asks, quietly. "I'll be just one moment, Queen Ravenna." I say, leaving the room. Chaddick follows. "What is going on with you? You sent me out for no reason!" he whisper yells. "You have no right questioning your Queen." I snap. "But I do have the right to question my Girlfriend." he snaps back. "No, you don't. You don't have a girlfriend anymore. Get out of my sight." I tell him. His jaw drops, but nothing comes out. "You're going to break up with me over nothing?" he asks frustrated. "Not nothing. The lack of respect you have for your Queen is disgusting. Now, leave before I have you removed and fired."
I watch Chaddick storm away angrily, then walk back into the dining hall. Ravenna has a wide smile plastered on her face. "Thank god he's gone." she says, standing from her seat. I roll my eyes. "Don't even, I'm not in the mood." I warn. "Okay, sorry." she says. I sigh. "It's fine. Come with me, I'll show you your room." I tell her. She nods and I lead her through the castle to her quarters. I open the door and she enters. I stand in the doorway. "Thank you." she says, smiling. "You know, I didn't expect to have such a flattering visitor this morning." I say. Ravenna laughs. "Well, I am full of surprises." she says. "Always have been." I joke. She sits on the bed. "I'll leave you to it. If there is anything you need, let me know. I'll have a butler outside your room too." I tell her. She nods. "Good night, Ravenna." I say, grabbing the doorknob. "Good night, Y/n."
