Guard Training

For the remainder of the day, I order my Guards to help teach and train the Guards of Tabor. Ravenna and I sit and watch the Guards at work. A faint smile is plastered on Ravenna's face. "What shall we start with today, Your Majesties?" Richard asks. Ravenna looks at me, not quite sure what to say. "Start with Sword combat. Both attacking and defending." I say. Ravenna and Richard both nod. "Depending on how it all goes, I may join in later." I add. Ravenna looks at me, shock all through her expression. "What? You fight?" she asks. I nod. "Of course I do. I'm the daughter of a late King. I find a lot of joy in it, if I'm being honest." I explain. She nods in understanding.

Thirty minutes or so pass. "It's comforting to know that they know the basics of sword fighting. That's a fantastic start." I say, rising from my chair. Ravenna follows my movements with her eyes. "Yes, very. Where are you going?" she replies. I look down at her. "To change. I can't fight in a dress, now can I?" I say, smirking slightly. "Oh yes, of course." Ravenna chuckles. I come back down wearing combat clothing. Ravenna looks at me, her cheeks blushing a light pink. I walk over to Richard who is watching the Guards practise. "Are you going to join, Your Majesty?" he asks. "Yes, I think I will." I reply. He nods then hands me a practise sword. "They aren't the real deal yet, Your Majesty. We will get there though, I'm sure of it." he tells me. I brush it off. "It's better than nothing." I laugh.

I take a few steps back from Richard, who is holding his training sword out in front of him. "Ready?" I ask. "Ready." he confirms. I lunge towards him, swinging my sword. It connects with his. I step back as he swings. He steps towards me, swinging his sword in attack. I block every attempted hit. As his sword rest briefly on mine, I push it away causing him to lose his footing slightly. I take the chance to attack, putting him in the defense position. I can feel multiple pairs of eyes on us, one of which belongs to Ravenna.

A couple minutes pass and everyone is watching us. Richard side steps me and kicks the back of my knee, causing me to fall to the ground. As he brings his sword down to my chest, I block it and roll to the side, kicking his knee from the front. He bends over and I manage to knock his sword out of his hand with my own. As he goes to reach for it, I stand and barge into him. He falls onto his back and I rest my sword on his chest. He sighs, letting his head sink back onto the dirt ground. "Okay, you win." he says, surrendering. I smile and step back, offering him my hand. He takes it and I pull him up. Everyone starts to clap. I look back to Ravenna who has a wide smile on her face.

"You guys are amazing." one of the guards from Tabor says. I smile. "Learned from the best." Richard says, gesturing to me. "Oh you're too kind." I chuckle. I hand the sword back to him. "Alright guys, back to training." I order. They all nod. "Yes, Your Majesty."

I walk back over to Ravenna, brushing the dirt from my clothes. She laughs. "Are you alright? That fall looked a little painful." she says. I shake my head. "It was nothing. I'm fine. I'll have a bruised knee, but that's it." I tell her. She nods and I sit. "You're very good. I'm impressed." she tells me. "I'm glad I can impress you, Your Majesty." I joke. "Oh please, you impress me every day we're together. It's an art at this point." she replies. I laugh. "Am I really that amazing?" I ask with a sigh. She nods seriously. "Yes, Y/n. You are really that amazing." she replies. I blush. "Well, thank you." I say.

We continue watching the guards train until the head Bulter comes out and declares dinner time. I stand and offer my hand to Ravenna. "My Queen." I say. She takes my hand. "Seriously Y/n, your Queen?" she laughs as she stands. I nod, linking my arm around hers. "Yes. You're my Queen." I repeat. "Sounds good to me." she replies. As we walk inside arm in arm, we unknowingly walk past Chaddick who flicks us a jealous look.

"How long do you think you'll be willing to stay in Tabor for?" Ravenna asks, swallowing her food. "As long as you need me, I guess. I'll have to make trips back to Tamatrea every few days, but I'll stay as long as need be if you'll have me." I tell her. She smiles. "Of course I'll have you. You can stay as long as you want." she replies. I smile back. "Jokes on you, I may decide to stay forever." I joke. "Fine by me." she smirks. I blush, looking at my food.

The next morning, I walk out to the courtyard bright and early to help the guards get ready for more training. "Alright, men, you will be doing more advanced Sword Combat training today. If I think you're all confident enough when it comes to attacking and defending by the end of the day, we will move to something new tomorrow. Is that clear?" I state. Everyone nods. "Yes, Your Majesty." they all say. I nod, then take a seat to spectate. As I'm watching, I hear the crunching of leaves behind me. "Your Majesty, may I have a word?" Chaddick asks. "Oh, you've got the be joking." I think to myself. I stand and turn to him. "If you must."

He leads me away from the others. "What is it, Chaddick. I was busy watching the training." I say, not at all amused. "I know, and I'm sorry. I just really need to speak with you." he says. "Spit it out then." I hurry. "Please, Y/n. Take me back. I won't treat you the way I did ever again, I promise. I love you." he tells me. I scoff. "One, it's 'Your Majesty'. Two, I don't care whether you treat me that way again. You shouldn't have done it in the first place and if you do it ever again, you'll never see Tamatrea again. And three, I don't want you back. I don't care that you love me." I tell him. He looks at me shocked. "Don't you love me?" he asks. "No, I don't." I say simply. He opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go." I say as I turn and walk away.

As I'm walking back, I notice Ravenna sitting in the chair next to mine. "Good morning, honey."  I say as I sit down. She looks at me with a smile. "Where have you been?" she asks, leaning on the arm of the chair. I roll my eyes. "Chaddick wanted to speak with me." I say. She laughs. "What did he want?" she asks, leaning closer to me. I lean closer to her, leaving a gap of about three inches between our faces. Blush attacks her cheeks. "He wanted me to take him back." I tell her. The blush quickly fades as she throws her head back in a fit of laughter. "What did you say?" she says, slowing her breathing. "Long story short, I said no." I say. She runs her hands over her hair. "Is that all?" she asks. "He also said he loves me and I told him I don't love him back." I add. She raises an eyebrow. "I thought you did." she says. I shake my head. "Ending 'I love you' with I think, means the opposite of 'I love you'. I said I think I love him, meaning I don't really love him." I explain. She nods. "Well good. He's an asshole."

I can feel Chaddick's angry and jealous look on me as Ravenna and I laugh and joke until we head inside for lunch. "Could you feel that?" I ask, sitting across from the Queen. "Feel what?" she asks confused. "Chaddick's jealous stare." I tell her. She shakes her head. "I was too distracted by your company to focus of anything other than you." she tells me. I nod. "Good. It felt disgusting." I tell her. "I've come to the conclusion that I don't like men." she says. Shock fills every part of me. "Like, romantically or just in general?" I question. "Meh, kinda both I guess." she says. "Kinda?" I ask. She nods. "Well, for a start, men just piss me off in general. When I comes to romance and sex, men don't do it for me at all. I seem to not be attracted to them in any way whatsoever." she elaborates. For some reason, her words bring me relief.

"Are you attracted to anyone romantically or sexually?" I ask. She raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean by that, Y/n?" she questions. I swallow dryly. "Like, women for example." I explain. "Yeah." she replies simply. I choke of my mouthful of wine. "You're attracted to women?" I cough "Yeah." she replies. I take a deep breath. "So you'd date and have sex with a woman?" I question some more. "Yes, Y/n. I would date and have sex with a woman." she replies. I nod, saying nothing. "What?" she questions. "Nothing." I reply. "Do you not like that?" she asks. I shake my head. "No, no, it's not that! I'm just a little shock. That's all." I say defensively. She sighs. "Okay good." she says. I nod. "Well, are you attracted to women?" she asks. "I- I like men." I stutter. She leans on the table. "You know you can be attracted to both me and women, Y/n." she tells me. "I- you can?" I question. She laughs softly. "Yes, you can be." she replies. I take a second to think. "I might be. I'm not sure." I tell her. She gives me a look but I brush it off.

A.N: The next part will be the same day, fyi. Lesbian Ravenna is canon in my eyes. You can't tell me she's attracted to men. Calling Ravenna 'Honey' isn't necessarily mean't in a romantic way as I call my friends 'honey' irl lol.
