(Dahlia's perspective)
I sat in my car, anxiously twisting my hair while my mother gushed about how much fun Nevermore would be. She described social activities, and parties and how much she loved it and I would too. However, me and my mother are almost nothing alike. She thinks I'm her, and I think she sent me off to Nevermore to live through me. It was quite obvious that she peaked in high school. While my mother went on about a dorm party that she went to 20 years ago, I kept thinking about my old school. "Dahlia? are you even listening me?" My mother said as she snapped in front of my face. "yes mother I'm listening. You were talking about how you overdrank at a dorm party, and how I should watch how much I drink" I stated coldly. I had no interest in playing beer pong, I just wanted to go home. "Don't give me attitude" My mother said harshly, while glaring at me. "I'm not, I was just listing what you had just told me" I said as polite as I could, I didn't want an argument right before I started a new school. "Okay.. but you better watch your tongue young lady" My mother stated. The rest of the car ride was silent, neither of us said a single word until the car came to a complete stop. I unbuckled my seat belt and got my things from the trunk, as I started walking towards the gate I heard my mother say " Goodbye darling" and then she was off. I opened the gate to see a tall blonde woman standing in front of me, I assumed it was the principal. "hello, you must be Dahlia. I'm Principal Weems, allow me to show you your dorm" She said politely. She walked to a large staircase that led to "Ophelia Hall" which was supposed to be my dorm. She led me down a corridor and pointed to a dorm, "This is your stop Ms. Dahlia. Your two other roommates are already in there, contact me if you need anything. I'm in room 1113" She left before I could ask anything else. I opened the door slowly and saw two girls. One had blonde hair with pink and blue streaks and was wearing a pink knit sweater. The other was wearing all black and had her dark hair in two braids. I had never seen such polar opposites in the same room. I walked into the room and the girl with blonde hair ran up to me and hugged me. "Hi roomie!! I'm Enid and thats Wednesday." she said cheerfully. "I'm Dahlia, its nice to meet you" I replied. Enid smiled at me and Wednesday turned to look at both of us " Shes been talking about you all week, she was excited to see who our new roommate would be" Wednesday said. Enid looked at the ground embarrassed but I said "Well at least you guys are nice, I'm glad I didn't get roomed with some assholes" Wednesday smirked and Enid smiled. "So do you need help decorating your side of the room?" Enid said "Sure it would be nice to have some help" I answered. I usually wasn't good at making friends but Enid was so sweet it was easy to talk to her. She helped me hang up my lana del rey, mitski, and beabadoobee posters along with my fairy lights and books. When we had finally finished I said "Thanks for helping me, but you really didn't have to" Enid started to answer but was cut off by Wednesday "Yes you didn't have to help her, Dahlia can handle it herself, can't she?" Enid glared at Wednesday and turned back to me "Ur welcome! I know I didn't have to I'm just trying to be nice, unlike some people" She said while glaring at Wednesday from across the room. It seemed they were in an argument of sorts but I didn't really understand it. Enid later passed me a note that said "Don't worry Wednesday takes a while to warm up to people, she's just jealous I helped you decorate."
I smiled at the note, knowing that Enid was trying to help me. I decided to go for a walk and explore the campus. I walked around and just before I went into the woods, I tripped over a twig instead. It was easy to say that I wasn't a very outdoorsy person. I cursed under my breath and started to get up when a hand that wasn't my own lifted me off the ground and back onto my feet. I looked up to see a tall boy, with dark brown hair and a childlike smile staring back at me. "hi" I said while staring at him. He was so pretty. He chuckled at the sight of me staring and said "hi" back to me. I was in disbelief he was even talking to me, he seemed way out of my league. "Im sorry I fell im just kinda clumsy" I said while trying to quickly walk away from him. he grabbed my wrist and said "its not your fault you tripped, you don't have to say sorry. I'm Xavier" while lightly rubbing his thumb on my wrist. I felt a shiver down my spine although I didn't know why. "mhm" I said while trying to walk away from him. I honestly didn't want to stop talking to him but I felt so embarrassed. "hey! wait up! can you at least take a walk with me? since I helped you?? pleaseeee???" He whined like a little kid. "Oh alright fine" I caved. "madam?" He said playfully as he put his arm out, "why of course sire" I responded while taking his hand and giggling. "Soo whats your name?" He asked me "I can't tell you that I have to be mysterious" I said while giggling. "hmmm, can I at least guess?" He asked me. "Okay fine but I'm not going to tell you..." I started "Thats against the rules!!!" he yelled. I started laughing and before I knew it we were walking and talking for hours. Throughout our walk he never guessed my name. It was very funny to me, because it seemed he was using every brain cell to think. At around midnight, I started to get tired. "Hey I should probably get back to my dorm, I don't want to get in trouble on my first day" I said. "But I haven't guessed your name yet!! Pleaseee! 20 more minutes??" He pleaded. "I guess you'll just have to wait then" I said while walking away. I laughed giddily on my way back to my dorm. Maybe Nevermore's okay.
