Lauren's POVI stepped out of my black Bentley, ready to enjoy my night. I immediately felt the warm, humid Miami air, bringing back a bittersweet sense of home that I haven't felt in a very long time.
I ran a hand through my hair, then took a deep breath, excited for what the night will bring. Walking through the marble entry way, a waitress shot me a smile as I stepped inside.
"Jauregui, party of three." I told the woman of my reservation.
"Yes, right this way." She replied, leading me to my table. I studied the pattern of the walls as she led me there, taking in the beautiful art surrounding me.
"Your waiter will be with you shortly." I nodded and sat down, waiting for the rest of my party to arrive.
This morning I closed my latest business deal, the newest section of my enterprise in London. I started my company, Jauregui, 5 years ago, and today it is rising among all of the other record labels in the world. After attending college at Berkley, I decided working for others wasn't exactly my forte, so I became a self employed entrepreneur instead. In my sophomore year, I built this growing empire and its been improving ever since.
I had a good feeling that the deal would fall through, so I decided to make reservations here at Palme d'Or to celebrate the companies success with pretty much the only two people in my personal life. I sighed, remembering the last time I had been here, smiling at the apprehension I had once felt.
Flashback
"Jauregui, party of 2." I told the woman and she led my date and I to our table. We sat down at either side of the table and I jogged my leg anxiously.
"You look really pretty tonight. I mean, you always look beautiful, I just meant that you look extra hot tonight. Not like hot hot, I didn't mean it like that. I mean, you do look hot, I just meant-"
"Lauren, are you nervous?" My date smiled at me and stifled a giggle.
"I just want this to be perfect. I mean, this is your first date, Camz."
"I promise you, it'll be perfect as long as you're with me." She grabbed my hand from across the table."Besides, you've been on a date before. What do you usually do?"
"Well, I've never actually been on a date before." I told her honestly.
"Well, it's nice to know I'll be your first at something." Camila laughed and I joined her.
"Can we get out of here? Maybe go out for dinner and a movie instead?"
I asked her, standing up."Yeah, it's way to fancy in here for me." She laughed standing up and I took her hand in mine.
End of Flashback
I smiled when I looked up and my eyes met a familiar pair of brown ones.
"Wow, Lauren. I'm surprised we're not at a strip club." Dinah joked as she joined me.
"Yeah, I was sure you'd have us celebrating with some hookers." Normani laughed, sitting down.
"Whatever." I said looking at the menu, smiling at the thought of the last time we celebrated.
"Hi, my names Sarah and I'll be your server today." The waitress told us.
We ordered our food and talked about things other than the company, which was nice since the people I normally talk to obsess over it.
"So, were have you been, Lo?" Normani asked, taking a sip of her drink.
"California mostly." I told my friends." But since the company's doing good over there, I'm finally moving back here."
