Marley POV

My mommy and daddy fell asleep and wouldn't wake up no matter how hard i tried to wake them. It started to scare me a little, but what broke me inside was when I checked their pulse. There wasn't any, and they weren't breathing. I may be a kid, but I'm smart enough to know that they were dead. From what I could tell, they'd been dead for a few hours, maybe less. That was weeks ago now. I made sure that my parents had a  proper burial and that they would be able to rest in peace. They had gotten ill with some unknown sickness that no matter how hard I tried, my healing magic couldn't fix them. Right now I was walking alone outside, walking down a forest path. I was wearing a cloak to hide my face from others that might possibly pass me by if I met them, which I had hoped not to.

A/N: Imagine that but for a child.

Thankfully I seemed to be completely alone out here. Just me, the forest, and the sounds of nature to keep me company. That's all I've had for weeks now and I've done just fine for myself despite what others would believe of a kid my age. I pulled the hood of my cloak up over my face and kept my nearly emotionless gaze to the ground, only looking up to gather the occasional medicinal plant or berry that I could get my hands on. Usually I don't concern myself with trying to find any sort of food to eat. After all, I barely get hungry anymore now that my mommy and daddy are gone. They always told me to get plenty to eat, but nowadays all I want is to be alone, sleep, train with magic, and focus on my own survival in this world. I left my home about a week ago, taking whatever I could with me that I could carry before leaving. The only things that I had with me though was my stuffed animal wolf, my dad's sword, my backpack, and my mommy's old music box that she gave me before she passed away.

This was all that I had to my name, and I didn't have the money to buy any food for me, so I spent my time living off of that land and eating small things like berries and some birds when I get hungry. As I walked I thought for a moment that I heard a voice, but chose to ignore it. That is, until I heard the distinct whoosh of an arrow that flew only inches past my face, followed by a demanding voice.

Thief: "Don't move an inch if you wish to live boy."

I scoffed under my breath, making sure that it was quiet enough for my ears only before turning around to face my assailant, who immediately attempted to fire another shot at me. The look on his face when I stopped the arrow dead in its tracks, floating in mid-air. Tch, it was nothing short of laughable. I turned it back towards him and pushed my hand outwards, sending the arrow back towards him fast enough that he didn't have enough time to react as it found its mark, piercing his heart as his now lifeless body fell to the ground, bleeding from his wound. As much as I would have rather avoided something like this happening, it is most likely inevitable. Especially out in te woods. Bandits and criminals of all kinds usually attempt to stay hidden here and he just thought that I would be an easy target. Unfortunately, he was mistaken and he paid the price for it.

I let out a little sigh before continuing on my way through the forest, completely ignoring the events that had unfolded just moments ago. Unfortunately, I had no idea that I would end up meeting a rather peculiar group of warriors that are famous in this land. They call themselves, Dog Knights. A small group of warriors that have formed their own guild, and often embark on quests and help the innocent when needed. My mommy and daddy always used to tell me stories of them and their acts of bravery throughout the land. And although they seemed very nice and I once wanted to meet them, I just wanted to avoid contact with anyone and everyone. *sigh* Too bad not everyone can be so lucky as to always get what they desire in this life.
