"Take her home, Toph." Topher was laying in the sand, playing with Jessie. He was the DD - he's never DD, so he wasn't happy.

"Why?" Jack asked.

"Don't worry about it." I shook my head.

Sunny grabbed onto Jack'a shirt for support. "I brought up Sophie. I closed the can of caterpillars, or however you say it. I'm sorry Jacky. Please don't be mad."

I watched Jack's jaw lock and chose to ignore it.

Chase had just arrived, hearing only what Sunny had just said, and whistled lowly.

I walked away, towards the fire.

"Cassidy?" Jack called.

"Gimme a few." I waved him off.

I sat cross legged at the fire, when I felt Chase sit right beside me.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine. You win?"

"I did. Way to change the subject, Cass." He chuckled and it made me smile. We sat in silence for a few minutes.

"What happened with Sophie and Jack?" I finally asked.

He sighed before grabbing my hand. "I don't think that's my story to tell, Cass. I'm sorry."

"I think you were a key character in it, thought, weren't you Chase?" I heard Jack from behind us.

"Go on, tell her. What is this, girl number two that's about to leave me for you? The bad boy?"

"Jack, you're drunk." I sighed, standing up. His eyes blazed at Chase. "You just love repeating history, don't you man?" Jack said, louder than anyone was comfortable with. People were starting to look.

"That wasn't my fault, Jacky, you know that." Chase said lowly. "Keep your voice down dude."

"Oh no no no–" Jack started yelling.

"Baby?" I said, putting my hand on his chest. "Let's go home, okay? Your home. Come on."

Jack looked between Chase and I, guilt flashing across his eyes.

"I've been drinking. I'm sorry man."

Chase waved him off. "You guys go. I'll keep an eye out on Mia."

"Chase, I'm sorry." Jack said.

"It's no big deal, seriously. I don't want your girl Jack. I just don't want to repeat history."

Like when he told me that's why he didn't like me. He didn't want me to be another Sophie.

"Jack. Take me home." I grabbed his jaw to make him look at me.

He looked between Chase and I before he finally sighed and grabbed my hand. We walked the short walk to his house, and I grabbed his keys as he fumbled with them at the door.

I changed into one of his t shirts and helped him get dressed for bed. He wasn't nearly drunk enough to need assistance, but I wanted the intimacy.

He wrapped his arms around my torso and laid his head on my thighs.

"I told you what happened with Ryan. Tell me what happened with Sophie."

He shook his head. "Not tonight, Cassidy."

"Jack, that's not fair."

He sat upright. "I fell in love with her. She fell for Chase. That's the end of the story." He snapped.

"That's why you get anxiety about me being around Chase." I realized aloud.

"Fucking forgive me I guess." He grumbled, walking to his closet to grab a sweatshirt. "Okay, I'm sorry my love, I didn't mean to snap. It's just– it wasn't Chase's fault. But it was. Ladies love the bad boys. And I'm not that."
