Vennies's POV
The trip to the gun store was definitely...a trip. The streets were empty, chilly, and dark. It was 10pm but it just looked darker today. It felt like a ghost town. We're walking on the sidewalk in groups of two. Mark and Morgan are in the front, Nadia and Sammy in the middle and me and Nina in the back. It's like a single filed line but twice ya know? As we're walking I can faintly hear Nadia and Morgan talking. I looked down and noticed something glowing. It was Nina's nails. Her nails are black with pink glow-in-the-dark skeletons on them.
"Oh! Nina, your nails are such a cute color"
"Aww thank you" She lifted her hand to eye level "They glow in the dark" She wiggled her fingers.
"Daamnnn when this is all over hook me up with your nail tech"
"Hook me up too," Nadia said as she looked back at Nina's nails. "If she got you looking that good shiii imagine what she could do to me"
"Oh please, I hope the bitch is a magician so she can make your face bearable to look at" Sammy snorted. Before Nadia could respond I placed my hand on Sammy's shoulder and started pulling him backward.
"Hey, hey, hey, let me talk to you for a sec, you guys go on up we'll catch up" Nina and Nadia mumbled to each other before finally beginning to walk faster as we slowed down. When they were far enough out of earshot I whipped my head around to Sammy "Can you genuinely not have a conversation with a woman without being a jackass. Tell me now so I know if I need to stop defending you"
Sammy smacked his lips. "Oh come on it was just a joke"
"If that was a joke then where is the laughter? Come on, be serious. Those women that you are disrespecting are on our team man. What is your problem?"
Sammy looked me up and down with a disgusted face. "I'm not the one with the problem" My hand fell off his shoulder as he walked faster. I roll my eyes again. Ugh, straight men are all the same. I quickly caught up with the group when I heard Morgan talking.
"I wonder what happened to the people," Morgan said in a saddened voice.
"They're probably zombies by now," Mark casually said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"But, how would everyone become a zombie in such a short time? Logically there should be survivors somewhere around here."
Mark raised his eyebrows as he questioned her "Are you suggesting we go and look for these survivors?"
"Well yeah the more survivors the more manpower we'll have," She said as she adjusted her glasses.
"Okay so hypothetically speaking, let's say we did find survivors right what if they can't shoot a gun"
"We'll teach them!"
"What if it's a couple and one of them gets bit and the other won't leave their side?"
Morgan hesitated. "Well, we'll... umm..."
"OR what if they just slow us down just enough for the rest of us to get infected then we all die because" Mark stood in front of Morgan and furrowed his brows "YOU WANTED TO SAVE EVERYONE!" Morgan flinched from the sudden tone change. Nina pushed past Morgan and shielded her with her body.
"Don't fucking yell at her." Nina pointed her index finger at Mark "Don't make me say it again" Mark and Nina furrowed their brows at each other while they stared each other down. That's when we heard it. Gunshots. They were coming from the direction we were going.
"Hey..." Nadia said with a shaky voice "What's that in the distance" Nadia raised her finger and pointed in the direction the sound was coming from. We turned our heads slightly to see what she was pointing at and what we saw made our hearts drop. Zombies were running towards us.
