*5 days later*

Olivia POV

It's been 5 days since I've seen or heard from Jeremy. The next morning he woke up and stormed out without saying a word to me.

In my opinion, I did nothing wrong. I've told him plenty of times that I don't allow smoking in my apartment. I have neighbors that aren't afraid to complain or run their mouths. And the last thing I need is to get kicked out of my apartment.

It was 9:30 am and it was a pretty chill Saturday morning for me. I was sipping on some tea while catching up on Love and Hip Hop.

"I'm so done with Joseline" I mumbled to myself. My thoughts were soon interrupted when my phone began to ring. I sighed and slightly rolled my eyes when I saw that it was Jeremy calling me.

I took a deep breathe, mentally preparing myself, because you never know what you're going to get with Jeremy.

"Hello?" I said in the calmest way I knew how.

"Hey Babe, wassup?"

I made a face before responding.

"Nothing...watching tv. What do you want?"

There were a few seconds of silence before he finally spoke up.

"Well...rememeber when I told you last week that my family was having a cookout at my moms house on Saturday?"

"Yeah?..."

"Well that's today" he chuckled a little.

"And...?" I said with a slight attitude.

"My moms doesn't know that we are arguing right now, she really wants to see you, would you mind coming with me?"

I sighed and thought about this.
Me and Jeremy WERENT really fighting. We would actually be in a good place if he would have apologized instead of storming out and ignoring my calls for 5 days.

But, I loved his mother, and I would never miss out on a chance to hang with her.
Maybe this will help me and Jeremy get back on track.

"Yes Jeremy, I'll go to the cookout with you"

I glanced at the clock and it was now 9:47.

"What time does it start?"

"Ummmm.." He started. For some reason I knew he was scratching his head. "It starts at 4, but you know she lives a good while away from us, so be at my house around 2:30 ish?"

"Alright Jeremy...is that all?"

I was ready to hang up and finish my show.

"Actually..."

Damn

"Do you mind running to the store to get some paper towels and salsa for the cookout? I'm kinda busy right now and I won't be able to."

I rolled my eyes before responding.
"Yes Jeremy, I can do that. Talk to you later" I hung up before giving him the chance to say goodbye.
I wasn't going to even try and find out why he was so busy to the point where he couldn't pick up a few things for his mom. He is still my boyfriend, but I'm not concerned with his whereabouts at the moment.

I decided to finish watching my episode of Love and Hip Hop and take a nap afterwards before getting ready for the cookout.

*3 hours later*

I woke up and pressed the home button on my phone. It was now 1:16 pm and I had 2 missed calls and 1 text from Jeremy.

Jeremy (12:57 pm): hey don't forget to pick up the stuff and be at my crib by 2:30!!!

I was slightly annoyed. Jeremy treated me like a child when in reality I'm very responsible. I decided not to open his message and went to my bathroom to freshen up.

After wiping between my legs and under my arms. I applied deodorant and brushed my teeth. My hair was in its natural curly state, so I decided to put the front half of it in a loose bow-like bun.

Jeremy's family cookouts were always casual, so I put on a nice shirt and jeans along with my Michael Kors gold sandals.

I applied a little mascara and eyeliner, then added some lip gloss to my lips. Nice and neutral. I took one more glance in the mirror, approving of my look and grabbed my keys and purse to head out.

I pulled up to Kroger and hopped out of my car. It was now 2:05 but I wasn't stressing because I knew it wouldn't take long to get 2 items.

I quickly found the section where the paper towels were, but frowned when I saw that the last few packs were stacked on a shelf way higher than me.

I stood on my tippy toes, and bit my lip as I tried to reach for them, but it was no use. I jumped several times, swatting at the paper towels to get them, but nothing was working.

Out of nowhere, a flood of cologne filled my nostrils. I closed my eyes, enjoying the smell when a southern accent snapped me out of my daze.

"Yuh need some help ma?"

I turned around and a very tall skinny man greeted me with pretty pearly white teeth.

"Uhh..yes please can you reach me that pack of paper towels right there?" I pointed to the pack and he easily grabbed it and handed to me.

"Thank you so much" I sighed and put the paper towels in my basket.

"No problem....you good?"

I didn't realize that I was staring until he waved his hands in front of my face.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry" I chuckled.

Get it together Olivia. It's just his accent.

"You good ma."

He said before walking off. I shook my head a little, and made my way to the register. After having the paper towels rung up, I checked my phone for the time.

"Shit" I mumbled. It was 2:26 and I'm not sure how but I managed to pull up at Jeremy's house by 2:34.

I locked my doors and made my way towards the front door. I didn't feel comfortable using my key for some reason, so I decided to knock.

A few seconds later Jeremy answered and my eyes scanned his attire. He was wearing a blue polo with jeans and sperrys. "You're late." He mumbled before leaving me at his door step.

I walked in and closed the door, then dropped the Kroger bag on his counter.
"I'm 10 minutes late...calm down. And you're welcome" I said before turning around and sitting on a bar stool.

He walked over to the bag and glanced inside.
"Where's the salsa Olivia?"

"Huh?" I looked up from my phone

"I asked you to pick up paper towels AND salsa. I see no salsa in this bag"

My eyes widened as I remembered that he did say salsa.

"Oh, damn I'm sorry babe, I totally forgot, I was so focused on getting the paper towels and getting here on time, I must have forgotten." I answered honestly.

"It's whatever...come on let's go" he said before brushing past me and heading for the door.

I mentally said a prayer and asked for God to be with me while at this cookout, because my patience with this man is running very thin.
