The Argument

Well sorry for not posting but I've been working on another story... Actually it's this one. This is the first chapter of a pregnancy story (Lena is pregnant) but I've only posted it on AO3... So let me know if you also want to read it here, otherwise the story's called 'Together... Yes Together!'

Lena had always been a badass, hardworking woman who wasn’t accustomed to having someone truly worried about her. Not that she didn’t value her girlfriend’s care, but Kara went too far at some point.

And this boundary is her job. The CEO considered her work to be holy. Indeed, it is a lot of work, and it can be demanding and exhausting at times, but at least there is no way that any form of labor could be easy.

It appears a little different from Kara’s perspective. Even though she was aware of how important LCorp and CatCo are to her partner, the previous few weeks had been extremely stressful for her. Kara noticed Lena’s tiredness, that she had thyroid issues, and that she frequently slept five hours a night, often less.

Lena frequently complained of headaches but always attributed them to the lack of sleep. But anytime Kara began to concern, Lena attempted to distract her with bad jokes, the weather, or the lengthy meetings she was forced to attend.

Kara admired Lena’s dedication to her work and fully supported her, especially because the CEO did the same for her as a reporter and as Supergirl.

But Kara was nearly indestructible; she is justly known as the girl of steel. Furthermore, her Super duties were more of a hobby and not something that knocked her out. Mostly.

The distinction is that, except when Lena collaborates with the Superfriends, which is a distinct subject in and of itself, Kara shouldn’t be alarmed by Lena’s work as a ‘basic’ CEO. Lena has reached the stage where a person is no longer able to advance. A human can no longer advance beyond a certain point, and Lena has passed that point.

When Kara picked Lena up from her office to go home to Kara’s apartment, they started their appointment. Despite the reporter’s best attempts, Lena continued to block more and more.

“How many times do I have to repeat myself? I’M FINE!” Lena rolled her eyes as she shut the door.

“Fine?” “FINE?” Kara was unable to calm down any longer. “You used this term so many times, it doesn’t even sound like a word anymore!”

“YOU ARE RIDICULOUS!” yelled the CEO yelled.

“NO, I am NOT!” the blonde exclaimed. “I CARE ABOUT YOU because you’re CARELESS, OBSTINATE AND FOOLISH, and you also HARM yourself.

It was an endless tale. Over and over again, they were dancing around the same subject. “YOU’RE NOT MY MOTHER!”

It became exhausting to yell at this point. Lena wished for their discussion to end, but Kara persisted. “I have to if you act like a child! Don’t you think, I haven’t noticed how exhausted you are?”

“It is a trying period, Kara. That’s it, nothing more. The most exhausting part of my day is you. You crush me!” Lena retaliated.

That hit her hard. Kara was aware of her compassion, but she had no intention of crushing her girlfriend. Her tone changed; it became softer. “That’s not fair… And you know that.”

Even though Lena knew she hurt Kara, she couldn’t stop herself. “However, do you wanna know what isn’t fair? Being judged by a woman who has two jobs and constantly puts her life at risk.

“At risk?” Kara replayed irritated. “I am SUPERGIRL! Emphasis on SUPER!!! I rescue Humans, including Lena Luthor, who consistently puts herself in danger and correct me if I’m wrong but YOU’RE NOT INVULNERABLE?”
