The eyes are empty, she just stares blankly into the light and does not react at all. The variations are endless.

The man with a medical lab coat took off his small flashlight and walked away in front of her and seated back to his office chair.

"Sorry Mrs. Smith, to tell you the truth you have traumatic optic neuropathy " the doctor says, holding some papers.

"Oh my God, doctor!" Mrs. Smith gasped and started to cry upon hearing the news from the doctor.

She was scared. Her son caressed her back to calm her.

It's been hours since they did a check-up about what happened to Mrs. Smith eyesight. A lot of process and questions that doctor did until he already found out. What's the reason for Mrs. Smith case.

"But doc? Is this connected  to the last accident that my mama had?" His son asked

"Yes. It's one of the most common causes  for loss of vision following head trauma. So what I've just said a while ago, it's traumatic optic neuropathy. This condition involves damage to the optic nerve, which is the nerve that provides the ability to see. Patients with traumatic optic neuropathy can experience sudden vision loss" The doctor explained.

"It seems your head was affected more than we thought, mom," he caressed her back to calm her.

The sound of the pop gum got their attention. It's the other son that has been sitting on the other corner sofa.  He just listens after all.

"Is that it? I'm getting tired of this! All you do is drama," Antonio said, rolling his eyes in annoyance. He rubbed his head in frustration.

"We've been sitting here for hours and walking again! all you do is drama mom! Just accept that you're blind, okay?!" he continued.

They have been at the hospital for a while now, and they have been checking everything on Mrs. Smith's request to find out the real reason why she lost her vision.

Mrs. Smith stopped crying and looked in the direction where she heard her son's voice.

"Shut up, Antonio!" she said, narrowing her eyes.

She also pushed away the hand of one of the children who had been trying to calm her down.

"Go away from my back, Gabriel!" she said, pushing her son away.

He backed away.

Mrs. Smith looked back at the doctor, even though she couldn't see him. She was easily able to determine the direction of the speaker's voice by her memory and sense of touch.

"Is this permanent, doctor?! Oh, what?! What? What's the solution for this? I still want to heal, doctor!" Mrs. Smith asked frantically, wiping her face because of the tears.

"Not necessarily... In some cases, the injury is apparent hours, days--" The doctor wasn't able to finish his sentence because Mrs. Smith clapped her hands upon hearing him.

'It's not permanent,' she thought to herself.

She even smiled, her happiness causing her eyes to tear up.

"Thank you, doctor. So, what's the treatment for this? Can we start it right now? I don't want to be late for my appointment with my dermatologist tomorrow. I have a lot of bruises. Gosh! I still have a problem with my bruises, hahaha" Mrs. Smith said, remembering something. "And I've been stressed these past days too! Gosh! I need a day off," Mrs. Smith said dramatically, pretending to fan herself due to stress.
