"Jeonggukie!" the accelerated voices of his cousins could be heard very far away, and Jeongguk, more that exhausted by everything he had experienced the day before, did not want to leave his dream nebula. "Jeongguk, wake up!"
"Mmhg..." he complained, wanting to cover his head with the pillow, so as not to hear them.
"Wake up, Seokjin is leaving!" that sentence took three seconds to be processed, completely scaring the child away from sleep.
Jeon stood up abruptly, forgetting the pain that persisted in his lower back, stumbling to the window of his room, checking with his own eyes that his cousins weren't lying. In the house across the street, Seokjin's parents' truck remained with the trunk open, while they loaded their bags back, preparing to leave there.
The younger felt a tightness in his chest, and his eyes involuntarily filled with tears, his breathing becoming irregular. Seokjin couldn't leave, not so soon.
He saw that he was only wearing his underwear and grabbed the first thing he found on hi bed, to shoot down the stairs, with the most crushing sensation he had ever felt in his life.
"Jeonggukie?" his mother called him, when she heard the strong footsteps on the steps, but the youngest couldn't stop to explain what was happening.
He yanked at the door and stepped out, pulling on his sandals hastily so as not to hurt his feet outside.
Seokjin didn't look very different from how Jeongguk was at that moment, seeing him arrive in front of the door, waiting for an explanation or something that would clarify what was happening, even if it was more than obvious. Jeongguk needed to hear it from Seokjin.
"Mom... I'm going to say goodbye to my friend" he informed, his voice shaking.
"Don't be long, please Jinnie" the woman asked, continuing with her business.
Depressed and with his eyes shining with tears to shed, Seokjin approached Jeongguk, leading him to the lamppost that illuminated his first kiss, and the beginning of what they lived together in those two weeks.
"I don't want you to go..." Jeon managed to murmur, before bursting into tears, in front of the older boy, who did not hesitate to wrap him in his arms.
"I'm sorry..." he forced himself to answer. "There's nothing I can do.
They stayed for a moment just hugging each other, trying to find the strength to say goodbye indefinitely.
"Hyung... please..." the younger sobbed with a broken voice. "Don't forget about me"
"I couldn't..." Seokjin assured, wiping the tears from the boy's cheeks, ignoring his own, which ruined his eyeliner.
"Me neither..." he assured, sipping his tears, forcibly trying to demonstrate the strength he lacked. "And I promise... I swear... that I'll be wait for you... until you come back the next summer"
"Jeongguk..." it was Seokjin's turn to break down crying, covering his face with both hands.
"I'll be here... where we met" the youngest continued speaking, plunging the redhead even more into his sadness. "Where we kissed for the first time" he added.
The sound of the horn of his parents' truck alerted Seokjin that his time was up.
"I'm coming back" Jin promised, dark tears staining his porcelain skin. "I'll come next summer and we'll meet..."
Jeongguk was so overwhelmed by everything that he could only nod. Seokjin wrapped his arms around him one last time, and after kissing his cheek, he ran to his parents' vehicle. Through the windows, he saw the older guy's hand wave goodbye, and he followed suit, holding back his tears long enough, until he was out of sight at the end of the street.
