The Youngest and Littlest

I swear I have a unit full of kindergarteners. As soon as everyone else arrives they start asking where Jay is.

"Guy he's with Kelly, he had something personal come up, hopefully, he'll be back tomorrow," I say all of them

I hope that alone is enough to make them all shut up but of course, it doesn't work so I have to call the firefighter that's looking after my youngest detective.

I need Jay back at the district, no one going to focus until they see him

Hank, he just fell asleep but I'll bring him in at lunch, hell I'll even bring lunch

I'll ask everyone what they want and then get back to you

I hang up after that and turn back to my team, I sigh.

"Kelly's bringing him in at lunch and he's being nice and bringing all you lunch so what do you want?" I ask

After some debating and Kevin and Adam arguing over what I can assume is a toy, they decide on McDonald's, but not regular food, no they want happy meals. I glare at them but Adam justifies why.

"They come with toys and sometimes we just need something to play with in downtime that won't break anything," He explains

I grumble knowing that they're right because I did have to replace the window to m door once when Adam and Kevin were playing catch one morning. I text Kelly the order and lock myself in my office in hopes we catch a case. Sadly that doesn't happen, but when I hear Trudy yelling I find myself having to exit my sanctuary.

"What's going on?" I ask

"Kelly, Jay, and all your happy meals are here," Trudy says

"Ok guys sit down and behave or I'll take all the toys." I threaten

Everyone goes to their respective desks and sits quietly. Trudy goes back downstairs and helps Kelly bring the food and Jay upstairs.

"JAY!" Everyone yells making the little flinch

"Guys what did I say," I almost snap but don't 

"To not yell," Adam says quietly

"Yeah, now I told Kelly to get everyone the same thing," I say and pass drinks out

It truly is like having kindergarteners sometimes, but that's ok I guess.
