"Kira!" My mom yelled from downstairs as I was packing my suitcase. I didn't say anything back just went downstairs to see what she wanted.
She told me to hurry up and that we had to leave in 15 minutes to go to the airport. I was very eager and went back upstairs to finish packing my suitcase. I couldn't believe we were moving to Barcelona after my mom got a job offer.
It's just been me and my mom for years. My dad left when I was about four, and now I'm 17, so I have very faint memory of him. All I remember is how badly he treated my mother.
I picked up my suitcase and my carry on bag and headed downstairs of what was soon to be my old home. I couldn't believe we were moving to a completely different country after spending all my life in America. My mom looked very sad, I knew she had probably already cried before I came down here.
"Are you ready?" My mother said, as I nodded my head. She turned off the lights and we said goodbye to the home.
It was quite a silent ride to the airport until my mom asked me a question. "Isn't that soccer team you really like in Barcelona?" She said, I got extremely happy when I realized. I had forgotten about that as I was stressed with moving. "Yes," I said with a smile on my face. "Well maybe we will have to go to one of the games after we settle in," my mom said. I began to have a smile on my face then I responded, "Yes, we should it sounds very fun."
Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of going to one of their games, and now I finally realized that dream can become true. I actually used to play soccer, but I stopped after dislocating my knee. I have just had a constant fear that I will get hurt again if I go back to the sport.
In no time we arrive at the airport, me and my mom get our suitcases and walk inside. We weigh our bags and go through security, then we wait for our plane to arrive. I was shaking my leg because I never liked to go on planes and they scared me.
"Are you okay?" My mom asks me while putting her hand on my leg to calm me down. "Yes." I respond, clearly knowing I am far from okay.
"Boarding passengers for flight to Barcelona Spain!" I hear come over the announcements.
"That's us." My mom says in a happy voice. She was very happy for a new beginning in a new place, but I am just scared about meeting new people and worrying if I'll make any friends.
Me and my mom get onto the plane and sit down in our seats. I watch as the plane begins to move along the runway and the seatbelt sign comes on. All I can think about is if I will be back in my home country ever again, or if I will never be able to see my friends again.
