In January of the year 2071, a super virus spread across the world and killed around 90% of the world's population. Those that survived it called it the "Death Plague" after the Black Death which ravaged the world between 1346 to 1353. Those that caught this virus would start to cough as though inflicted with a cold, then they would start to bleed when they coughed. The final stage of the Virus was a mix of bloody coughs and lesions all over your body.
By the time people knew that the virus was there it was too late. The world governments reported thousands of deaths per day until even they started to die off. By January of 2072, the disease had finally run its course and only four countries had a population remaining with 10% being fully immune.
One family would rise up from the ashes of the country of France and rule. Ashlyn Johanson-Durand took over as the country's leader and helped regain communications between the remaining countries. In the USA, it was the Johnson Family. In China, it was The Wáng family. And in Russia, it was The Ivanov Family.
Ashlyn Durand was the first to reach out to Russia and afterwards they both found out about China. When the Johnson family finally got their coms up in November of 2073, they joined the fold. By December of 2073, peace treaties and trade routes were set to be in motion for Spring of 2074.
On October 4th, 2091, Ashlyn Durand welcomed her great granddaughter into the world. They named her Judith in honor of Ashlyn's favorite t.v show growing up. Judith grew into a strong and capable young woman, having been groomed since her birth to be the President of France.
As the first generation born after the virus, Generation P were tasked with learning all the trades and having an extensive education so that none of the knowledge of the world before was lost. This was the best way to make sure than mankind would not fall and would instead persevere.
The following text has been put into this hard drive for New Earth so that the memories and stories of those involved will not die and someday will be shared around the world.
