[ HIDDEN MEMORY UNLOCKED ]
Pain was the only thing he registered as he scrambled for the entrance, his nails scrapping concrete as he tried to pull himself out of the burning building.
"JIN WOO!" he exclaimed. "Come back here you bastard!"
The man fled instead, like a coward with his tail tug between his legs. He left him all alone, fingers scrapped to the bone and legs that hung limply as the flames ate it away.
"Come back here..." [y/n] whispered as the world around him crashed. "How could you?"
"How could you?"
The words rang different now that this was another life. The Jin-woo in front of him was different, much younger and less burdened than the man in his memories.
This was a ghost of his memory, an image that taunted him as this Jin-woo simply smiled down at him politely.
"I'm sorry, but could you please repeat that?"
"It's nothing," [y/n] replied with a forced smile. "I wanted to know how you are, after... y'know... the incident in the dungeon."
"Hunters heal fast, so I'm pretty much back in shape now. So what are you doing here, kid?"
[y/n] hesitated.
He hadn't came here with the expectation to meet Jin-woo. Hell, he hadn't wanted to either. But it seemed this world was slightly different than the last life he lived, for this very event hadn't happen.
Jin-woo had quit just before the misfortune of the E-rank dungeon.
"I broke my leg," [y/n] let out a small self-depreciating laugh, gesturing at his cast. "Football can be rough."
Jin-woo winced, catching onto the hidden meaning behind his words. [y/n] had expected him to, given the history he had.
"Kids can be cruel."
Silence filled the room. It didn't matter to [y/n]. He laid back down on his bed and stared up at the ceiling.
[ REGRESSOR ]
Or what was the ceiling, either way.
[ TUTORIAL COMPLETED, REWARD: HIDDEN MEMORY (1ST LIFE) _ GENERATING QUEST ]
[y/n] decided to shut his eyes and ignore the notification. This bullshit had been here since the day he was born in his second life, the glaring words similar to a game system that haunted his every step. But the first 15 years of his life was a tutorial, and every hardship was apparently nothing more but an easy and guided mode.
What a joke.
The last quest hadn't been spectacular. He was supposed to stand up for himself in front of his bullies. But it ended with a broken leg, and an apparent completed tutorial. This game system was shit if he was congratulated for a broken leg.
[ SAVE CHECKPOINT? ]
YES/NO'Yes.' [y/n] thought.
The system took his answer, and the purplish screen disappeared from his view.
The only thing left to do was rest. [y/n] allowed the exhaustion to pull him under.
