Mary started her education at home. She would work on her writing, reading and arithmetic every morning for 2 hours in the kitchen that constantly smelled of bread. Then, she would move onto either sport or science. Lastly after a lunch of, well bread, Mary would end her day by learning one of five different languages. French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Latin.
When Mae was old enough to learn, girls were starting to attend schools. So Mary and Mae went to public school - Mary was reluctant whilst Mae was so excited she could burst.
Reading, writing and arithmetic were taught at all schools so Mary had no escape from those subjects, but she could no longer learn the wonders of the world with biology and chemistry and learn languages for more intake in ethnicities, she couldn't even do badminton anymore. Instead she had to knit and paint, sing and dance as anything else was 'un-lady like.'

"Here an apple a day keeps the doctor away, or so they say!" teased Ellie. Mary snatched an apple and ran to her room.
"What's up with her?" pondered Ellie
"She had a rough day at school!" Mae explained. Many days came and went like this. Mary missed spending time with her mum and wished she could be spending time with her sister. The three years she spent learning at home was her learning with Ellie as the teacher. If her parents hadn't made her go to school it could be just Mae and Mary. Girls weren't required to go to school so why did she still have to.
Mary and Mae had to walk home once the school day was through. There was a bridge a couple hundred yards up the river to where their house was. "Mary why can't you use your magic to make a way to get across the river, so we don't have to walk so far?" Mae asked sulkily.
"Mae a demons powers only works on a full moon," Mary explained.
"Our powers are at its strongest on a blood or blue moon," she added. Mae found that very fascinating and she returned home having learned something new, something fascinating about the greater world. It really is true that you learn something new everyday!
