Light humming was all Kaiyo heard as he slowly drifted back into consciousness. And the smell of spices, a lot of spices.
“Oh you’re awake” A feminine voice called out to him.
He opened his eyes to see a girl, about his age turning something in a pot. Normally, He’d have been taken aback by how pretty she was, and how she acted like it was perfectly normal to be nursing a complete stranger. But Kaiyo didn’t feel surprised, he didn’t feel anything at all. He stared blankly at her as she turned back to face him with a smile and a plate of something.
“I made soup”, was all she said before dropping the plate in front of him and going back to pour herself another plate. The girl in front of him could have been dangerous, and a part of him wished she was. He needed to release all the frustration he was feeling on something, on someone.
“Who are you?” he asked blankly. She seemed familiar, but he knew he’d never seen this girl a day in his life, he’d definitely remember, it’s not every day you see someone with waist length completely red hair. If she lived in the town, he’d have come across her one way or another, and there’s no way she’d be taking care of him.
“Oh, we’ll get to that later” she said, sitting next to him, “Now, just focus on getting be-”. In one swift motion, her head was against the wall with a little medical blade pressed against her neck. And Kaiyo was staring into the most beautiful golden eyes he’d ever seen.
“I asked a question” Kaiyo spat menacingly. Darkness slowly crept from his body as he stared at her. The longer he looked at her, the more confused he got. Most people would be scared, or even angry, if they were completely overpowered and with a blade digging into their neck, but she was completely calm, hell she was even smiling.
“Oh, easy there player” she laughed, taking his hand off her neck. Kaiyo started to hear sizzling, and a few seconds later, the smell of burnt flesh filled the air. And then the pain came, he looked down to see his wrist that her hand was still holding on to, and it was completely burnt off, charred flesh and muscle in its place.
“Aaaaargh” he screamed as he took a step back. The girl walked up to him taking the medical blade from his hand. She walked up to the drawers and pulled out a pair of bandages.
“I’m Tsuki” she said with a smile, “And I need your help killing someone” she added, with darkness in her voice.
“And why would I do that?”
“Don’t you want to avenge your mother?”

Tsuki was used to seeing magical outbursts. I mean in a family like hers, it was basically normal. But never had she seen one strong enough to wipe out a town. Three years ago, on her 13th birthday, Tsuki ran away from home, and it's been that way ever since.
Some time last year, she came across a town that claimed to be the home of a certain witch, one she really needed to pay a visit to. She'd been in town ever since, and hadn't heard from the witch or the so called 'demon son'. Then again, she knew they'd be be loners so she wasn't really shocked. What has shocking though, was the explosion on magic the saw on her way from a neighbouring town.
"That's definitely him", she thought. Of course it was, the explosion was one of pure darkness, what she'd been told only he could release.
Tsuki went over to the source immediately, qhere she found a boy her age laid at the center of a crater. She walked over to him and sat down putting his head on her lap.
"You look so much like him" she whispered, holding onto the pendant of a necklace she wore. That's That's she saw a pin falk from his hand, with the mark of the Dominion.
Of course they'd be behind this
Tsuki may have been only 16 years old. But she'd been through what most adults would see in their nightmares. She was no stranger to the horrors this world held, and she could piece together what had happened already.
They killed his mother.

It's been almost two weeks since she found Kaiyo laid inside that crater. She had taken him to the neighbouring town where she lived temporarily, and nursed him till he woke up
After the stunt he pulled when he woke up, Tsuki was sure he was some hot headed, loud, teenage boy, and was certain she wouldn't like him. But at the mention of his mother, all the aggression in his eyes vanished. He didn't say anything either, but simply walked out of the house and slammed the door.
Tsuki started to get worried after he didn't come back that night, or the next. On the third day, the said dark haired boy showed up collapsed at the front of her door. When Tsuki lifted him up, she saw the blood surrounding his broken knuckles and fingers.
He's just grieving, she thought, he did just lose his mother.
Then she saw the redness of his eyes, and streaks of tears and mud on his face.
Maybe, just maybe. She could grow to like this hot headed teenage boy. She thought with a smile.
