Y/n's POV

December 14 2006

I stood within the opening of the forest I have lived in for 79 years. My trousers were rolled up to above my knees as my feet stood submerged within the waters of the lake before me. My S/c Skin shimmering ever so slightly as the sun's rays bounced off of it.

My eyes were closed and the gentle wind blew my H/L H/C hair behind me. As always it was peaceful here in the forest. Nothing new besides the reproduction of the animals ever happened, nothing ever changed and no humans ever visited this place.

Actually there was one incident where something did happen but that feels like it happened a whole other lifetime ago.

With that said it's not like no one outside didn't know of "people" residing within the thick foliage but rather the excessive amount of 'Keep Out', 'Private Lands' and 'Wild Animals' signs plastered along the forest tree line kept anyone from wandering in.

Despite my isolation I kept up to date with the changing world's culture, having parcels delivered to the letter box on the south side's path tree line. I was greatly fascinated by the changes in literature since 1930, reading books of all genres.

But regardless of how much I loved this place I did oh so wish that I could leave this forest one day. However I had made a promise to my mother.

My mother. By god she was such a beautiful woman. Her skin was the same colour as my own and shined like diamonds in the sunlight. Her eyes were a golden brown from where she fed off of animal blood. Her long blonde hair would flow gracefully in the wind. She was just beautiful.

My father I took after him most. My hair colour matched his as did my eyes except for when I'd accidentally forget to eat cause I was too busy reading or spacing out. When that happened they'd turn the same golden brown as my mother before turning pitch black.

Though there was one BIG difference between my parents. That was my mother was a beautiful immortal vampire graced with the gift to be frozen in time at the young age of 25. My father however was nothing more than a mortal man who despite my mothers limitations to go out in the sun he loved dearly. The two settled down here and lived a quiet life.

My mother gave birth to me in 1927 which shocked both of them especially since I was fast to develop and she was only pregnant with me for a month. Nearly a year later I resembled that of a 6 year old.

My parents knew that if I ever left this forest that my life would be in danger for if anyone from our kind had discovered my existence the vampire "kings" would come for our family.  The Volturi don't approve of immortal children even if I was still half human.

My parents stresses were quickly put to rest once I fully matured by the age of 7. Though I was still not allowed to leave the forest. My body became frozen in time not looking a day over 19 though my heart still held a slow beat to it and my blood still travelled slowly through my veins.

Being the product of a human and a vampire meant I was both mortal and immortal and also meant that my feeding habits varied. I didn't have to eat human foods to survive but I also wasn't reliant on blood either, no matter the source.

I could go out in the sun without shining as brightly as my mother but still holding a glow to my skin. I was faster than a human and stronger and I had an ability someone of my mothers kind could only possess as humans were well... a whole other species in itself.

That's said I wouldn't call my ability a gift but I also wouldn't label it a curse. A burden...Well that might be close enough.

I sighed as I opened my eyes. "Mother... Father... Surely it can't hurt to leave this place someday right? I mean this can't be my life?" I say looking up at the clouds.

My father died 16 years after my birth. He was 45 and contracted an illness that neither myself nor my mother knew to treat. His final days took a toll on both of us but his death took its toll 5times worse on mother.

2 years later once she was sure I was mentally old enough to look after myself, at her request she had me kill her once I turned 18. I didn't want to do it. But you see, my mothers ability allowed her to invade someone's mind and bend them to her will.

She made me promise not to leave this place till my special someone came. Though I lost faith in that possibility along time ago.

Stepping out of the water I slid my boots and socks back on before venturing back to my small cabin. I've only made small changes to my childhood home including a small library up in the attic. My parents room remained as it had when they lived her clean and a nicely kept.

Outback was were I continued to grow my fathers vegetables and mothers rose bushes. Then out front under the cherry blossom tree with the swing were their graves. When I miss them I take a rose from my mothers bushes, placing one on each grave before sitting and swinging on the swing reminiscing on the times my father would push me and my mother on it.

I had a good memory my first being of my father pulling me from my mothers womb. The look in his eyes, such love and tenderness I'd never forget. Then was my mothers embrace, a warmth I'll always remember.

Walking into the house I literally the fireplace and sat on the living rooms couch gazing into the burning fire. I fell asleep taking an afternoon nap something I was able to do.

When I awoke dusk was washing over the forest and the tooting of owls far into the distance could be heard. I stayed up all night laying atop my cabin roof and gazing up at the stars imagining what life beyond this forest could potentially be like for someone like me.
