(Jacob POV)

I'm abruptly woken up by my piano riff alarm. Damn. First day of Junior year, I don't know how I feel about this. There's going to be even more annoying Freshmen.

I lift my head up from my pile of blankets, and pick up my phone to turn off my alarm. I really don't want to get up.

It's not like I have anything really exciting going on at school, other than my friends. Or should I say friend. Yes, I only have one friend at school I talk to, I'm that lonely. I would talk to Marco, but what if he stops texting me because it's not summer anymore? I don't know, I'm probably just overthinking. Plus, he's not the kind of person to ghost me.

I finally maneuver myself out of my bed, and put fuzzy socks on. I had wide-legged jeans set out to wear, but they're cold. I settle for a pair of black sweatpants and a light green hoodie. Underneath, I have a short-sleeved graphic tee. It's Aberdeen's Lamb album. I look at myself in the mirror, and try and tame my mess of shag happening on my head.

I grab something I've been holding onto for a while from my desk, and put it in my pocket. I plan to do something with it.

I hear a knock at my door.

"What?" I answer. My older brother, Mason walks into my room.

"What the hell do you want?" I say, in a greeting manner.

"Definetly not whatever you're on." He says, pointing at my eye bags.

Yes, I stayed up playing Animal Crossing. I laugh, and turn to him after fixing my hair.

"Are you driving me?" I say, getting out my phone to check the time.

"No, mom is. She said I drive you too often and that she wants to see you more until you're sent off to college." he replies, raising his eyebrows.

I continue looking at my phone, blocking out whatever he's saying. Still no text from Marco? We usually say good morning to each other.

        Me: morning mr.

He left me on read? Really? I wonder what's wrong with him.

"Hello? Are you texting that boy again? What'd he do?" Mason asks, worried. He can tell by the look on my face I'm upset.

"Sorry. It's nothing." I say, reassuring him. He looks at me like he doesn't believe me.

"Okay, fine. He left me on read, but I'm just making a big deal out of it." I say, admittedly.

"You're allowed to feel that way. Don't dismiss your own feelings." He says, pulling one of my hoodie strings.

I look down and smile as he walks out of my room. I fix my hoodie strings, because I hate the feeling of them being uneven, and I hear my mom calling me from out in the kitchen. I get my earbuds, and my backpack and go out to the kitchen. She has a bagel set out for me on the grey counter.

Picking up her work bag and her purse, she goes to walk out to the car, motioning me to come with. I grab the bagel and place it in my mouth to hold as I walk out with her. I check my messages again, but no text back. I sigh and put my phone in my hoodie pocket as I continue eating my plain buttered bagel.

I get in the front seat as my mom turns the car on. Maybe he's already at school, and he's not allowed to be on his phone? Yeah, probably. I can't believe I'm still worrying about it, it's probably no big deal. But, come to think of it, he didn't text me last night either.

"You ready for school? Or are you still half asleep." My mom asks me as she begins to drive.

"Option 2." I say, trying not to take out my phone and text him right now.

"Oh, c'mon it'll be great! You're going to do a drawing class, finally. And you're doing German 3! First hour, right?" My mom states, trying to get me excited.
