After our very uneventful search through Audrey's room we decided it would be best if we headed back to Evie's cottage to regroup. I, however, had a horrible headache and I was ready to rest.
"I really hope they found Ben." Mal speaks worriedly as we stand in front of Evie's cottage.
"Nice digs." Uma compliments Evie.
Upon entering the house I noticed that the children were also put to sleep. I looked down at Squeaky and Squirmy worriedly, how could Audrey do this to children?
My brain began to flashback to when me and Ben were children— how we'd met.
My parents hosted a ball after Ben'd dad became king, and they made Ben's parents the Guests of Honor; I remember thinking Ben would be stuck up and rude but he was just really sweet, as always.
We played with our toys for hours until the nanny came to tell us it was time for bed.
I was brought from my thoughts by tapping on my shoulder, "We're gonna go to the fashion shed, you coming?" Uma asks and I nod.
Celia pipes up, "Nah, I'm going to stay here with Dizzy and the twins, you guys go ahead." She states and we nod before leaving.
Upon entering the shed we all noticed Doug asleep on the desk, Evie quick to run inside and wake him up.
"He's spelled," Uma states, "Is she not a fast learner?" She asks as Evie looks over at us.
"She's emotionally involved, okay?" Mal speaks as she leans on the doorway.
"Well, in that case she should be able to wake him up." I speak, knowing exactly what Evie would have to do.
"True loves kiss, works every time."
"Well we haven't actually used the 'L' word yet." Evie state nervously.
I sighed as I looked away, it was obvious that Evie loved Doug, and that he loved her back, but I'm guessing the two of them were completely clueless, but this wasn't news to anyone but the two of them.
"Can we be alone?" Evie asks.
Me, Uma, and Mal exited as we waited got Evie to be finished with Doug, although we would be liars if we said our curiosity didn't get the best of us.
After 'One Kiss'
After Evie woke Doug we all decided to enjoy Jane's cake since we knew she wouldn't ever get to have a piece anyways. I munched on a piece of cake worriedly as I thought about how the guys were.
Jay had better be alright or I would murder him when he got back, how could we get married if he was hurt or dead?
However, I was pulled from my thoughts of Jay when the windows of the house began to be covered with boards, I quickly put down my spoon before going to where Mal and Uma were standing.
It was clear as day that this was Audrey's work, she knew we were getting closer and definitely wanted us to be hindered in our journey.
"Celia!" I called as the girl stood by the window.
"We're trapped!" She screamed as she ran towards me Mal and Uma, I quickly wrapped a caring arm around her.
Celia was still shaking despite my firm grasp on her, "You guys okay?" Evie asked coming into the dining area which was now darkened by the boards Audrey had put up against the windows.
"What's going on?" I asked as Mal began to chant.
"You've caused my friends pain and fear. We've had enough, now disappear!" Mal yelled, her arms outstretched to cast the spell.
However, her chanting came to no avail as she quickly apologized for her being unable to break the magical barrier placed around Evie's house.
Mal looked at me and Uma as I backed away slowly, not yet wanting to reveal my powers, allowing Uma to step in front of me, her seashell glowing as her and Mal began to chant.
"You've caused our friends pain and fear. We've had enough, now disappear!" Mal and Uma chanted as I watched, guilt flooding my body as the boards began to come down.
I thought I'd wanted this, but the more I thought of the possibility of having powers, especially Hades powers, it scared me. What would Jay think? What would everyone think? They might've thought I was just like my father, just as malicious and cruel, and I didn't want that to be my legacy.
When the chaos calmed down the boys had come back, Jane accompanying them. I smiled uncomfortably at her, I still wasn't over her comment from a couple months ago, but I was able to push down any negative feelings as my worries about Jay being all right towered anything quarrels between me and Jane right now.
"Jay." I stated as I walked up to him, he seemed more silent and stoic than usual.
At first I thought I was going to get a crazy lecture again but he just placed a hand on my cheek, running his thumb along the base of my cheek.
"I hope that you can stop being upset at me." He spoke, his eyes pleading.
In that moment I couldn't find any reason to continue being upset at Jay, he was only being a good boyfriend after all. I pecked his cheek softly, pulling him into a hug before turning to look at Ben, who was checking in with his wife-to-be.
"Ben." I spoke.
"Tessa." He said back simply, his eyes seemed to be scanning me for any changes.
"I'm glad you're okay." I let out.
"Hmm I kind of wanted Audrey to put you to sleep." He joked and I let out a soft chuckle.
Suddenly, I was embraced in a comforting hug, Ben gripping me tighter a soft 'I'm sorry' falling from his lips.
And suddenly I wrapped my arms around him too, pulling him into an equally bone crushing hug.
"I'm sorry too."
