Sitting in bed, she stared at the ceiling, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened. She didn't quite want to accept the fact that what she'd just experienced was real, but she knew it was and she didn't know what exactly to do. The man that saved her and the dream that she just had was real. She didn't know how she got here, but she knew that she was alive.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to think. She didn't know what to feel. All she knew for sure was, she wanted to see this mysterious man again. She wanted to thank him for saving her life. So much had happened to her since she'd met him that it was difficult to understand what was going on. The more she thought about it the more confused she became. She was tired. Too tired to deal with this kind of situation. So she fell asleep.
The next morning she woke up the second time without knowing what she had dreamed about. But as she got ready, something caught her eye. As her mind began processing the information, she realized that she was wearing different clothes.
"Well, isn't this fun?" she thought sarcastically as she looked at the clothing she'd been given. Then another thought popped into her mind. "Wait, if this is my new world, shouldn't I be wearing something different? Is that how my world works? Do I change here or do I change naturally?" With a sigh, she decided to stop thinking about such confusing things.
As she stared into the ceiling, she started to think about the mysterious man and decided to run to the bookstore again. Hopefully he was there. She didn't think she'd be able to think properly if she didn't see him once again. She knew that she wanted to see him more, because she badly wanted answers. Answers regarding her past. Questions about who she was. She wanted to know why she couldn't remember anything about her previous life. Questions about the mysterious man that saved her and his strange ability.
She wanted to know why everything around her seemed to have gone dark, or maybe not as darkness, but rather, color.
When she stepped outside, her eyes widened slightly. The streets were crowded. Everyone seemed to know each other well. However, their voices sounded foreign to her. Some people talked louder than others, some laughed loudly and some shouted in anger. Some people were arguing. There were also people who seemed to be singing along to some sort of song.
She wondered if she was really in a different universe. She knew that if she left this place, that she wouldn't be able to come back. She couldn't leave this world without seeing the man that was waiting for her on the other side. She wanted to meet him again.
Finally, she decided to start walking toward the bookstore. Maybe he would be there. After all, if this place wasn't her world, then the bookstore must be somewhere else. Perhaps that was the reason for the lack of familiar surroundings. Maybe it was some kind of a dream. It was possible she might actually go insane if she didn't have some form of proof that this whole thing wasn't a dream.
She kept telling herself that, although part of her wanted to believe that it was all simply a dream, the other part of her was very much aware of what had really happened last night.
Even though that man had given her no explanation, she could tell that it hadn't been fake. At least she hoped it hadn't been. It couldn't have been. He had to be real. No one would ever do something like that. Not unless they were truly insane. She just hoped that this was a normal dream that she was having. Because otherwise, if she went insane, she would never see this man again.
And that was something she didn't want. She didn't want to lose him. She had fallen deeply in love with the mystery of his existence; with the fact that she was able to experience something completely unheard of every day, despite living most of her years in this world alone, without ever having a chance at happiness. She didn't even know his name. That was something she hated most of all.
But, if this was her new reality, then maybe she could find her memories in her own time period. Maybe she would find out who she really was and what happened to her in the past few years and why she couldn't recall any of it.
Maybe if she did that, then she would eventually find the courage to go through with that dream that she had. That's what she wanted, and maybe the only way for her to achieve her desire was through solving these puzzles. Maybe if she did discover the truth of her past, she could finally put an end to all of these questions plaguing her.
If only she could remember.
How was she supposed to do that? She didn't even know who she was. She couldn't remember anything at all. That's what frightened her the most. She didn't want to forget her past. In fact, she really wanted to remember what her life was before all of this happened to her.
For now, she'd just keep searching until she figured things out. She'd keep looking, and look deep, look far and wide. She would search for clues in order to find out the truth. The mystery intrigued her. Maybe it was the answer to her entire life's story.
Who was she? What was her purpose? What kind of person was she? She wanted to know all of those things. She wanted to understand what made her different from everyone else. How does one change? How does someone as ordinary as herself change in a matter of seconds?
Her thoughts drifted off to the mystery of everything that was happening. Is she dreaming? Is all of this real or just hallucinations? These thoughts kept on haunting her mind and made her think she was going insane.
She couldn't deny that the mysterious man intrigued her. He spoke to her so beautifully that she almost forgot how to breathe. Everything about him was fascinating. From his eyes to his lips to even his voice. Everything about him was beautiful and unique, yet she felt strangely drawn to him. Why was she drawn to him? Was he a past life lover? A family member of her so-called real world she used to live in? Who is he?
And why was he here? What was he doing in this time period? How long had it been since the events leading up to her death? How long has it been since she lost everything? Where had everything gone missing? And where did her family go? Had they died because of what had happened to her? Or did they simply disappear? Would she too eventually turn to dust, never to be seen again? What happens when you become dust? Will you stay that way forever?
She shook her head, trying to rid herself of these thoughts. They weren't helpful. All she wanted was to know who the man was.
If this was all real then what does it mean? What are we? Are we alive or dead? Why can't I remember my past? What happened to me? What caused my death? What was I looking for before it happened? Why did I lose all of my belongings and memories? She can't stop her mind from thinking of all these questions.
She was startled when the door slammed open, causing her to jump and let out a squeak. When she turned around, she saw that the person standing in front of the door was none other than a man she never expected to see again. Standing behind him was a tall man with black hair.
She recognized him immediately.
