*Chapter 4*

I jolted awake. Jingling sounds woke me. The first thing I saw was the ceiling, and the dead light. The room was dark. 'it's probably past midnight...'

I glanced to the spot beside me, noting that my cat was nowhere in his previous position.

And then, my eyes searched for a certain black cat. Which I did find sitting contently on the chair beside the window, it's curtains were drawn back.

He was gazing out of the window. He seemed to be in a trance, as I noticed from his rather stoned posture.

I slowly creeped towards him, to see what he's staring at.

As I went closer, I saw the moon that was reflecting in his eyes.

'he was staring at the moon?'

bzzt!

Hapon na, at biglang tumunog ang door bell.

'sino naman kaya yung nasa pinto?'

Tinatamad akong pumunta sa pinto at binuksan ito, at nagulat nang nakita si Dad. Ang akala ko he'll never bother me this whole summer, yun ang promise niya eh.

" Dad?"

" you seem surprised"

I was greeted by his low booming voice, yung tipong pwedeng makagising ng natutulog sa ilalim ng lupa. I was always intimidated by dad, it was a very long while, the last time I saw him smile.

" is...there something you need?"

Tinitigan ni Dad ang bawat sulok ng kwarto, na para bang idino-double check yung room.

" No. Just wanted to check up on my daughter. is there something wrong with that?"

" of course not!"

Dad chuckled.

" don't worry, I wont break my promise. I just came to see if you're doing fine all by yourself"

" Dad, siyempre naman. I can handle living by myself"

'I wouldn't actually call this living by myself, considering my dad owns this condo, but this is the closest I can get'

" Meow"

Pareho kaming agad na lumingon ni Dad sa pinatutunguhan ng tunog.

Lumapit si Isaw sa akin.

" mew" he stood beside me and meowed at Dad as if saying 'oh hi'.

" haha, may inaalagaan ka na agad na pusa, move on ka na kaagad kay Pumpkin?" Dad said in an amused tone.

Si Pumpkin yung previous ko na pusa, kulay orange kasi siya tapos medyo plump siyang tignan kaya, Pumpkin.

Binuhat ko si Isaw " ito nga po pala si Isaw, cute niya no?" niyakap ko ng sandali si Isaw. And I felt him stiffen.

" oo nga, pero bakit meron siyang eyepatch?"

" ah..ano...ayaw nga po niyang tanggalin eh, mahilig po siyang mag-cosplay..."

Dad raised a brow.

~beep beep beep~

" excuse me" pumunta si Dad sa bintana at doon kinausap ang tao sa phone.
