SHADES OF MAY

may cloaks me in the bouquet of verdant leaves, still damp from last night's rain shower. i watch as red cardinals dance from branch to branch, as the wind sends ripples through the muddy-green lake, as fairy lights twinkle in my back patio to the contrast of stars in the night sky. while the smell of petrichor fills the air around me, i ponder on how could i not bask in all of the colors of spring- in the field of white daisies that sway back and forth to the wind, the pink roses in my front yard that lean towards the smiling sun, even to the brown fur of a fawn and it's mother, while they nibble on the grass near the edge of the forest of my backyard. i sit here, listening to the soft pitter patter of rain seeping into the soil, into every tree, and into these weary thoughts of mine, soothing my worries and doubts. may is here to remind me, that we only exist within this moment, within this frame of time; and what is better to do with our time than close our eyes, and be grateful for the chance to grow and bloom along with the wildlife that is all around you?
