Your POV
As Natasha was being the main character, I was standing at the side, making sure nothing went terribly wrong. When Keller sliced open Natasha's clothes, I wanted to step in and stop everything, but the look in Natasha's eyes showed that she was still in control of the situation, so I forced myself to stay in position. My eyes drifted to the scar that was on her shoulder and the ends peeking out from underneath her pants. Perhaps this was related to those nightmares Natasha would occasionally have.Natasha expertly showcased the real reason for bringing Keller to the art room, and I was proud of her achievement, though the point of having the ultimate laugh failed to leave her.
Deciding now was the time to make an appearance, I stepped out from my hiding place. "What's going on over here?"
"Miss Y/L/N!" The prefects turned around and saw that I was standing by the door, looking at the mess.
"It's nothing Miss Y/L/N, we were just trying to clear up some misunderstanding, and it led to a bit of tussle." Natasha said.
"Come over here. Let's take care of your injuries. The others clean this place up and go back to your studies." I beckoned for Natasha to come over and guided her to my room.
"Are you okay?" I asked. "I saw them kick you. Does it hurt?"
"I'm fine. This little bit of kicking doesn't compare to what we've been through, and those were a bunch of kids." She cupped my cheeks and stroked them with her thumb carefully.
I shook my head. "I'm supposed to be the one doing this. I'm supposed to protect you. You're not supposed to get hurt. But I have been failing. I have been going against the contract."
"Y/N, this is not your fault. I knew what I was getting into when I accepted this." She held my hands to reassure me.
"Can I make sure you're not hurt?"
"You just want me to take off my clothes." She teased.
"N-no. You don't have to." I stuttered, but she already started unbuttoning her clothes. There was a shoe-shaped bruise forming around her stomach. "Let me just get a cream so it heals faster." I went to my first aid box and applied it against her skin. Natasha hissed when I came in contact and I pulled away looking at her.
"I'm joking, it doesn't hurt." I sighed before continuing. After I'm done, I couldn't help but drift my eyes to her scars again but I didn't question anything as I helped her button her clothes. "Don't I have to go back to class?" Natasha asked when I stopped her from leaving.
"You get a free day from me. Just stay with me. It's not like you don't know anything they are going to be teaching anyway." I packed the supplies in the closet as I said.
"If you want time with me you just have to say, you don't have to make any excuses." She traced her fingers along my back sending an electrifying sensation throughout my body.
"I only wanted you to rest." I denied.
"Then you should rest too. I know the work here is long and hard." She continued and hugged me from behind.
"I can't. I have work to do."
Natasha POV
I just wanted to spend some time with her. Especially after she confessed her feelings a few days ago and I just want to spoil her to the best of my ability. Sadly we were in the middle of a mission and there's little we can do. I want to bring her out of the shell she's in."Just for a bit, please." I tried dragging her to her bed in the room. She sighed but complied eventually. After taking out the outer layer of the jacket, she lay on the bed with me. She didn't do much other than lie on the bed until inched closer to her. I placed my head on her chest hearing her heartbeat. "Close your eyes and relax." I instructed when I realised her eyes were still open.
I could tell she was still tense and her heartbeat showed no signs of slowing down. So I tried to bring her mind elsewhere. "Want to tell me what you remember about your days in school or the three gap years you had in your resume?"
"They weren't great." She started.
"You don't have to say if you don't want to." I stroke her arm. I didn't want her to feel forced but I wanted to know more about her.
"After losing Evelyn... I was lost... I didn't know what to do. At some point, she became my compass even before she was born. I was in a low. Vic tried to be with me but she still had classes to go to. One day, she came back and... and..." She took a deep breath, it was very hard for her to get words out of her mouth. "... Found me hanging in my bedroom."
I didn't even realise I stopped breathing. It made me remember the time I sent Rogers away on his last day with me. Her fear in her eyes when he grabbed her necktie and when I tried to adjust it for her.
"Thankfully, she came in just in time and saved me. I am forever indebted to her."
"I have to thank her too. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here next to me. No wonder both of you are so close." They banter like sisters and the way they support each other is phenomenal.
"I didn't have many friends in University, but she was always there. We were studying different courses but we always studied together. But before that, I did join an attendant academy. I just wanted something different."
I looked at her learning another new fact. "So that's why you adjusted to my demands so easily. Why didn't you put it in your resume? You could have gotten a higher pay, you know?"
"I just wanted to be busy. Getting a job was my main priority. I couldn't rely on Vic for too long, she had to pursue her dream. But it ended well since we were constantly busy." She didn't comment anything about our relationship, but I didn't let myself get hung up on it too much.
"You're the best thing that happened to me. After what happened to my family, you were the first person I hired, then Bucky, Wanda, and Pietro. You brought so many people close to me."
"You have Mr Stark, Mr Barton, Dr Banner and even Mr Odinson."
"Yeah, but I wouldn't say we were really close. Other than Clint, I never really confided in others."
