Let's ignore the last chapter and move on. 😃

The gate within the trost district was still demolished, and titans continued to pour through.

All of us knew it needed to be fixed immediately, or the number of deaths would continue to skyrocket.

Providentially, Armin had a well documented plan.

So here I am, defending a titan. Years ago, I would've never imagined myself in this very position. I observed carefully as Eren sunk his serrated teeth into the skin of his thumb.

I watched confoundedly as blades of yellow lightning shot into the cerulean sky. His 15-meter titan emerged into the firmament, expelling an ear-piercing cry from his unhinged jaw.

As he approached the boulder, every step cause a deafening crash to spew into the atmosphere.

"Eren!" Mikasa cried as a vehement 8-meter abnormal bounded towards him.

My body moved before my mind, and everything seemed to play out in slow motion. I landed on Eren's extensive shoulder, hoisting my pair of blades into the air.

I crashed into the window of a nearby building, the broken glass scraping achingly against my exposed skin.

I waited until the titan was only a few inches away to strike. I landed atop its vast head, using its thin strands of hair to hold me in place.

Thankfully he was too focused on Eren to even notice me. Once I confirmed his nape was exposed, I took my chance, slashing it open as if all of our lives depended on it.

I succeed, and the titan steadily began to disintegrate. I pumped my fists into the air victoriously.

I returned to my previous spot next to Armin, who congratulated me on yet another kill.

"If you keep going at this pace, you're going to have more kills than me some day." A voice declared prosaically.

I spun around, my gaze blessed by the sight of Captain Levi lingering behind me.

"Really?" I gawked.

"You remind me of myself, a bit. You're special, and I hope someday you'll realize that."

I was too busy gaping at the notorious man that I had completely missed my chance to respond, as he strolled rapidly away.

Not only was I shocked he spoke to me, I was shocked he complimented me. I must really be special for somebody like Captain Levi to praise me, I thought.

I turned to Armin who had the same humongous grin as I. I noticed he had a rare tendency to feel the emotions of those around him.

But I watched as his expression slowly transitioned to one of horror.

I twirled around, and behind me Eren's titan stood. His face was filled with murderous intent, his luminous, seafoam eyes meticulously surveilling over me.

"Uh... hi," I grinned nervously, multiple beads of sweat dripping from my adhesive forehead.

He allowed a thunderous scream to tear from his lips, the powerful draft knocking me off of my feet. My blades expelled from their attatchments as I thudded onto the surface below me.

I anxiously scooted away, clutching the hem of my shirt. Usually, I'm not this afraid of titans. Sure, I'm afraid, but not like this.

Deep down I knew I couldn't kill Eren, even if he had tried to kill me first.

Captain Levi fired off a red smoke signal, the smog nearly choking me as I sought to breathe.

"He's gone feral!" Levi shouted.

"Shit," I choked. "Eren!"

I approached him nervously, positioning my left leg against his nose. I held onto two strands of his tawny hair.

"Eren," I growled. "You little cocky bitch, I know you can hear me. Don't forget your mission,"

I tried my hardest not to let my emotions get in the way, but as the minutes passed and he showed no sign of retreating, I had no choice.

"Eren, remember me?" I whispered so that nobody else could hear except for me and him. "Remember when you kissed me after training?"

"Y/n! Get down," Mikasa cried. I held my position, twisting my head around to face her. The look of terror on her face spoke for itself, and I knew I had little time.

When I turned back to face Eren, I noticed the puddle of blood sweeping the area around me.

"Oh, fuck, oh shit!" I wept, the ghastly realization finally hitting me. As I looked down, I noticed that he had completely tore my leg off at the joint.

"Eren," I growled. Ultimately, I felt no other emotion besides anger. I didn't feel pain, just complete rage.

In that moment, I lost control. Spurts of yellow lighting spouted into the air, my body taking form of the 15-meter tall armored titan.

Everything was blank. Like my entire life had been erased, and I cared for nothing besides him. A part of me felt like I was already dead, like this was some sort of afterlife.

But it wasn't.

My outrage took a hold of me, my muscular hand reaching for his vacant throat. I was focused on completely decapitating him, but before I had the chance, he grabbed onto my exposed wrists.

"YOU'RE THE REASON MY FATHER HATES ME!" I bellowed tempestuously. "I WILL TEAR YOU TO FUCKING SHREDS!"

Was this the end of what we had?

Part of me held back. Part of me stopped myself from murdering him on the spot.

What was stopping me? Could it be— love?
