A new life

Chapter 1 nightmare

"What is this place?" Was the first thought that came to mind after Emmet opened his eyes and looked around. The place, the strange place he woke up was dark, cold and empty, the only thing he saw was darkness.

The darkness that was filling his heart with terror, making it race faster. He already saw this place before, but he wasn't so sure where or when, as if memory of it just disappeared.

As if someone made him forget about it. At this thought Emmet jumped on legs and moved forward, towards the darkness. It was pure, nothing was visible from the other side of it. It was endless.

He tried to touch it, but it kept moving away. The more he tried, the same result he was getting, the darkness was refusing him to touch it, as if he had too much light inside to be able to touch it.

"I need to get out of here" The thought suddenly appeared in his mind. He wasn't sure why he needed it so badly, but he felt like something bad is going to happen if he won't.

Emmet stepped back from the darkness, it no longer seemed calm, it started to move at him. Slowly, carefully, but he could see it getting closer, as if now it wanted to touch him.

But he can't let that happen, he needed to make sure it won't. Because if it will manage to touch him, this would be his end and he knew it and he needed to------

Before he was able to finish this thought, the cold and heavy air suddenly filled with loud, maniacal laughter. Laughter that made him stop and start shaking in fear.

This laughter was something familiar, very familiar and scary, something that he already heard before, but couldn't remember. Something wasn't allowing him to remember....

"Finally decided to visit?" That voice, his voice echoed through the darkness, filled Emmet's soul with fear and panic. He can't be back, he just can't! They changed his fate, his future, right?

Yet, something wasn't feeling right. He forgot something important. He forgot the only thing that would tell him, explain to him, why it was happening.

"Emmet, Emmet, Emmet, I thought you'd be happy---" Whispered his voice right in Emmet's ear, making him jump. Emmet quickly turned around and was frozen with pure animalistic horror. "To see me.... Again...." Rex smiled widely.

He was standing before him, smiling with his bit insane smile, was looking at him as if he wanted to kill him and maybe he wanted to kill him. To kill him and-----

And Emmet remembered, he remembered everything that happened before, whole year of agony, of pain and terror. The year full of loud screams and blood. The year his two friends died. The year he almost lost everyone he loved.

Emmet wanted to back away from him, to scream, to run and hide, but he couldn't. He was completely frozen, trapped in his own body, in his own head. In his own mind.

Rex lowered his head and looked right in Emmet's eyes, he was way bigger than the last time they saw each other in the same place, or was it just because Emmet was terrified? He wasn't sure.
