"Tears and fears and feeling proud to say 'I love you' right out loud."

Koshi turned back to Dashi with tears in her eyes and ran back into her sister's arms. Leaving for college was harder than she thought. Her feet were heavy as she finally made her way to the Gup. This was goodbye.

"Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, I've looked at life that way."

As the Gup slipped out of the Octo-Hatch, she looked back and a warm, tinkling, trickle of affection spread from her chest to the tips of her fingers and toes. The Octopod had been her home for so long. Granted, it was a circus, but everyone on board felt like family whether they were related to her or not. After all, it was them who helped her to realize just how strong her passion for writing was and encouraged her every step of the way.

"But now old friends are acting strange; they shake their heads, they say I've changed."

Koshi wasn't saying she received unanimous support though. She remembered the things her college advisors told her, "There's no future for you in the arts. You're a smart girl. Why don't you try banking?" Listening to them for so long was the biggest regret she ever had.

"Well something's lost, but something's gained, in living every day."

Koshi remembered how their words had beaten her down. She'd nearly stopped writing. Worst decision she ever made. She should've stood strong and voiced what SHE wanted. It was her life after all, and she'd taken control of it, at last.

"I've looked at life from both sides now, from win and lose, and still somehow, it's life's illusions I recall. I really don't know life at all."
