THREE: Unappreciative Behavior in the Lunchroom. Oh, and a fight.

Friday, the saving grace of the week. Most people fairly enjoyed the weekends. Shoto Todoroki was not a fan. He didn't like being home with his father.

It was lunch, and Shoto was sitting next to Izuku and Tenya Iida, eating their meals with the two beside him chattering about upcoming plans for the weekend. Shoto wasn't listening though.

Across the lunchroom was Denki Kaminari trapped in a chokehold by Katsuki Bakugo, who was shouting profanities. Mina Ashido was pointing and laughing uncontrollably while Hanta Sero was recording the scene on their phone. Next to the commotion sat Eijiro Kirishima and of course, (Y/N) (L/N) chatting up a storm and even laughing at whatever the other was saying.

Shoto's eyes squinted at the two. He didn't know why his eyes were squinting, but he felt as if Eijiro was doing something that made him upset. (Y/N) had a smile on his face and stole a Gyoza off the red head's plate with his chopsticks, earning another laugh from Eijiro and him stealing the boy's water bottle, hitting his shoulder lightly.

Izuku noticed the behavior and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Todoroki, are you okay? You look really tense," he said with a frown. Tenya chimed in from across the table. "Yes! I couldn't help but also notice you seemed puzzled."

The boy in question shrugged and took a bite of his Soba, munching on it wordlessly. The other boys just shrugged it off and continued with their conversation. Izuku, however, kept glancing every so often. He would get to the bottom of this.

Lunch eventually ended and students went to their next class, which was training. Aizawa was the instructor for today.

"Alright everyone, I'm partnering you up. Don't kill each other," he said, his tired eyes desperate to close.

His eyes remained glued on a clipboard he had in his hand, calling out name after name after name. Finally, it was Shoto's turn, and he hadn't heard anyone's name he cared for called out yet. So far it was Momo against Tenya, Mina against Ochaco, Sato against Tsuyu, and Jirou against Aoyama.

"Alright next uh, hmm.." Aizawa pondered for a moment. "I want (Y/N) partnered with.. mm, Bakugo."

Bakugo let out an annoyed 'tch' and crossed his arms, sticking his nose in the air. "That'll be easy, you're going down, water hose!" (Y/N) simply chuckled at that and began stretching his arms.

Shoto kept his eyes glued on the boy flexing his arms before flickering his gaze to Bakugo, then back at (Y/N). He scrutinized the boy as he took gulps from his water bottle, even pouring some of the water on his arms, watching his skin absorb the water and leaving him dry. "Must have to do with his quirk.." Todoroki thought. In all honesty, he didn't know much about the (H/C)'s quirk. He was probably one of the few students in his class who didn't use their quirk in public a lot, so it was interesting to see something new.

"Next, Todoroki and Mineta. Midoriya and Shoji, Tokoyami and.."

Shoto just blocked the rest of the announcing of the duos out and began to focus. He didn't really care that he was paired with Mineta, but why? He's a pervert and quite annoying.

To begin, everyone got in two rows, everyone on one side, and their partners across from them. Some people got in their ready positions, while others just stood there idly.

"Begin."

Quirk after quirk began to bring themselves to the table, people digging attacks from long range fighters, and close range fighters trying to sneak in to land a hit. Right now, Shoto was simply putting up ice walls to keep Mineta at bay.

However, with Bakugo and (Y/N), they both seem to be focused. Bakugo was brazen in his movements, trying to land a hit on the other. The (H/C) kept dodging and trying to keep his dodging consistent, because he knew if the blond could land a hit, it would hurt like hell.

"C'mon and fight me, loser!" He shouted, swinging his explosive fist at (Y/N)'s face. He dodged his fist last minute, swinging his up to splash water into his face. (Y/N) then ducked under the angry's arm, grabbing his wrist in his right hand and his shoulder with his left, sweeping his foot at Bakugo's ankle, causing the male to fall to the ground.

The blond, flabbergasted, rolled to the side as he saw (Y/N) fist aim for his face. This caused his fist to slam into the ground beneath them, leaving a puddle of water—water that was encompassing his fist.

Bakugo snarled, "You aren't getting out of this easy, spray bottle!" He swiped his forehead for sweat, and flicked his fingers out at (Y/N) before surrounding students saw the explosions pop in the air like popcorn. Immediately following came the sound of heavy rain for just a few seconds, as the (H/C) created a temporary wall of water to lessen those explosions.

Other students who were already beaten by their opponents or given up, were now watching the spectacle, as students were surprised (Y/N) could keep up with Bakugo. Class 1-A honestly didn't know much about his quirk.

Todoroki easily defeated Mineta and was now one of the spectators, puzzled by the turn of events. He was intrigued by his classmate's quirk, as well as Midoriya, who was taking notes on the boy's battle style.

"Todoroki! Do you see how the water evaporates when Kacchan's explosions contact it? How does (Y/N) block so quickly?" Izuku questioned with excitement. Shoto simply shrugged and kept analyzing, feeling like something was on the top of his tongue.

Bakugo aimed for a direct a attack, his plan to shoot a release to hit (Y/N) from a distance, but the said target dragged his right leg back through the dirt and held his flat hands in front of him, shielding himself. When Bakugo released, (Y/N)'a water absorbed the blow, and shot it back in Bakugo's direction.

But he wasn't there.

"Gotcha now, dumbass!"

"Huh?"

Audible gasps could be heard from the other students around the two boys, supporters shouting 'look out!'

(Y/N) looked up, his eyes widened as he saw Bakugo above him. Then, in that moment, the water user was finally struck, the blow sending him feet away from his originally spot, and into the trunk of a tree. Many leaves fell from above.

"That's what you get for thinking you're better than me!" Bakugo snarled, then with a smirk, he sneered, "I win!"

The (H/C) wasn't used to much direct combat fighting like this, so he was, unfortunately, down for the count. But not before Todoroki finally noticed what he was thinking about.

———

On the way to their homes, Izuku and Shoto walked side by side in the walkway. Izuku was rambling about their fights earlier.

"It was so cool that I got to fight Shoji! He has an amazing quirk, having like eight arms at one time?! So awesome!" He cheered, smiling brighter than the sun itself. "What about your fight, Todoroki?"

"Martial arts," he said hastily, yet tone still
monotonous. Midoriya blinked and glanced at his friend. "I.. pardon?" he questioned.

The dual quirked male pressed the button in front of the crosswalk, waiting for the traffic lights to change so they could cross.

"(Y/N), in the fight against Bakugo. You were taking notes on his style, but you didn't include martial arts," he informed, watching the cars slow to a stop. Midoriya perked up and flipped through the pages in his notebook.

"You're.. wait, how do you know that?" "The way he never got unbalanced, the sturdiness yet the ability for his hands to remain flexible for any moment. His form. It's martial arts," Shoto explained like teaching a first grader addition. He ushered Izuku across the crosswalk so they could get home. "I have an idea on where he trains, too."

The green haired boy simply gaped at his friend, for he has never heard this many words come out of his mouth all his time of knowing Todoroki. And was he always this observant? Izuku's eyebrow quirked as soon as he got to his senses, and when the two stopped in front of the Midoriya household, he halted.

"Next weekend, wanna have a sleepover?" He grinned a little too enthusiastically, (and that's saying something).

Todoroki thought nothing of it, however, so he agreed.

He doesn't know what he just signed up for.
